What a fucking experience. Great way to make your own family member feel worthless!

i have a 25 year old son who lives across the country near his mom. he has recently been posting "vulgar" remarks on his facebook page. stuff about dicks and farts and asses and whatnot. really immature and childish. i asked him "what do you get out of being so vulgar?" he came back with the old "i do what i want and i don't give a fuck". then he blocked me.

he gets sentenced next month for having drugs and guns hidden in his bedroom while already on probation for drug charges.

Shorts to a federal Judges party at a law office.....I'd feel pretty dumb as well. Learn from your mistakes and move on. Don't blame others for your lack of consideration.

Its things like having no job breaking your integrity, not the clothes. If you had enough pride you could just turn up in fishermans trousers and been entirely cool with it...

Plus look at it this way, all those people just handed you a vial of poison each and you drank them all in one, came here on RIU and puked it all up. Don`t drink it next time dude

i haven't had on a pair of pants in a month. shorts and rubber sandals for me.

my parents are having their 50th wedding anniversary in a month. it's gonna be at my brothers house. he has a few acres. chickens and what not. we're a pretty active family and will be throwing balls, playing badminton, my brother has high dollar RC copters. he may launch one into flight. we will bar-b-queing. lots of kids. probably be in the 90's outside. i think shorts will be appropriate.

if they were to rent a hall and hold an evening "event", i would most definitely wear a suit.

I think this looks like you're making a big deal about this to other people. It's one of those 'you'd have to have been there and known them to understand' type things right? The culmination of other times your family have made you feel unwanted or degraded right? What we see on the internet is only the tip of the iceburg, and it was one of those 'straw that broke the camel's back' thingies. I think I get you.

I have 2 sons that are over 30 and I love the shit out of them and if they showed up in a toga wouldn't care because I love them and very happy that they love and respect me the way they do in their own ways.
I work with my youngest and even when we have bad work days, after the end of the day we still hang out and get stoned togeather...
I wouldn't worry much but if you do, give him a call and tell him you meant no disrespect and that you would never do any thing to embarress him, that you already have in the past and now you just want him to see your changing for the good. Man he's a judge and most of the ones I've met seem to put their pants on the same way I do. he's seen failure and I doubt he see it in you either...

Sorry you feel that way man. hope you're feeling better now. to be honest, they might have raised an eyebrow at your clothes but your own paranoia had a part to play in your reaction. You might not realise this now but one day you'll look back on this and find it funny.

i'm from a big family that ranges from the hard hat types to the company presidents and when i get invited to social gatherings i always ask the host "what are you wearing?" i've been bit the same way. you ask what to wear and they say dress comfortable, and you show up in casual dress when it should of been suit and tie. i wouldn't sweat it to much.

People are fucks dude. I don;t understand the whole dressing thing. Its fucking retarded. Me and my girlfriend went to some party at my old work for Christmas. It said dress casual, yet nice.. Okay so that means khaki and button up shirt right? So I wear that, she wears a dres, then guess what. we walk in and EVERY FUCKING PERSON is wearing a fucking tux and ties and we kept getting these looks and I was far to baked to not notice the looks. God that whole day was fucking stupid. You brought up the memory. Im about as fired up as you are right now lol

But if they all know your a recovered addict, their not going to look all that great on you.. Sorry, I'm just saying, if my family knew about my past drug issues theyd all hate me, or at least just think they are superior and I'm a stupid kid(To them anyways.. Im 23). I've found out when it comes to family, don't tell them about anything pertaining to drugs. Except smoking obviously, who cares about that?

what a normal adult does: sees how everybody else is dressed and jumps into "i need to change NOW mode". finds the nearest marshall's, ross, even WALMART, buys 30 bucks worth of half decent looking clothes, goes back to the party, gets drunk, jokes about how idiotic he felt about the whole dress incident and the rather cheap yet brilliant solution.

it seems to me the symptoms may be gone, the drug use, but the underlying cause of your looking to experiment with drugs is still there.

there's some sort of weird emasculating complex intertwined with a type of regression you have going on. 29 years old and still attending evening events in shorts??? really?? you couldn't even do a nice pair of slacks.... you had to do kakhi shorts, you weren't working the booth at a carnival....

they wouldn't let you get to the elevators in most office buildings in my city dressed in shorts and tennis shoes lest you are a delivery guy, or some sort of contractor...and we get to go up the FREIGHT elevator.....i've never seen the lobby of half the buildings i've worked, b/c i wear shorts in summer b/c it's HOT OUTSIDE........

i would've personally done something about it. i would've changed, instead of bitching about it online..... oh well....

I bet only a handful of judges retire on a daily basis We know he was an Administrative Judge in Workers Compensation Commission, and he was a federal judge before that...
