Went to my site today, soil is very soggy, advice appreciated!

Hey, so I went to check my site today and was very pleased with the surrounding vegatation to help with security. Plus, its extremly hard to get to, so the chances of someone finding it is very slim.

On the negative side, the soil is very soggy. It has a couple of small water ways that passes close and I would assume that only a couple of inches, max a foot, will completly dry out in the hot summer days.

The soil is very rich and I was planning on planting in native soil. I will dig 2x2 holes to refill with added manuer and lots of perlite.

My question is: do you guys have any other suggestions?

It is a vast grass land with lots of swampy kinda patches here and there. I will bring photos tmr, im at a Internet Cafe and forgot my damm camera.

hey dude, ever thought about growing in smart pots? get a few 5-10 gallon pots and you will not need to use the land around you

no prob man keep me posted take some pics.

i would say use pots if possible man, gives greater control over soil conditions and if you think someone has found your shit you can move the pots easily

Also, with smart pots, it is like a raised bed of sorts. It can wick up moisture from the ground. Or cut the bottom of a 5 gal bucket and fill with soil. Keeps the roots from rotting, and the tap can dig deep for moisture.

i us difernt thing. i us weed barrier. i staple it like a pillow case. and fill it with soil roots will grow threw it and in to the soil but it sstill works like a smart pot. or i us straw bails. depends on how much work and money you have.

Mix in gypsum and perlite, if its not wetlands then the plants could like it in a dry summer, and they will be massive if they take to the rich moist soil.

create a deep ring of mulch around plants to wick away water, and absorb excess. i like licorice root, if ya can get it.
