Welthink Electronic Ballast...

I'm thinking of picking up another light and I found a cheap kit on ebay. It didn't specify what brand the ballast was so I inquired. The seller said it is from a company called Welthink. I researched them but can't seem to find anything about the quality of their ballasts. Does anyone know if they produce good, quality products? I'm sure they do given that they are obviously still in business and there is a 90 day warranty but I'd like to be as thorough as possible.

That was one of the first things I found, I was just skimming the title and words on the google results page when I saw this but I'm fairly certain they are manufactured in the USA, Virginia I believe it was. Thanks for the link and yeah, thats them. Established in 2005 so they must be doing something right. Confirmed there they are produced there. I guess I'll probably go ahead and take the plunge...about $200 for the ballast(600watts), reflector and both a mh and hps bulb If anything goes wrong or right I'll come back here and post, just to get the information out there.

Well, I take the part about them being based in America back. It would seem they have multiple divisions. But they are based in Asia somewhere...Nonetheless, going to give it a try anyway.

I have been using one for 2 months and am very happy. I did have to adapt a vent fan to the hood.
600w delivered $221.00
I know it doesn't come with the 5 year warranty(lumatek)
but I consider it a bic lighter with all the free bulbs and such.

Do yourself a huge favor and don't buy a Welthink brand ballast. I bought 20 of them 1000W and every one of them burned out. One almost started a fire, seriously blew!!! They are cheap S**T and when I called the company in Virginia Beach about the warranty they said I tampered with the units which is complete BS. So not only do you get an unsafe piece of crap when you buy this garbage, when it does break the so called 3 year warranty is bunk also.

A 100% failure rate sounds more like fantasy island or viral marketing.

Not sure but I just ordered a Lumatek ballast and they say that the other brands that are fan cooled are less reliable, but they are just trying to sell their product. But I would be sketchy if I couldn't find any info on it, make sure its not from China!

Just So Ya Know, Lumatek is made in China

Hi all

I bought 6 of them 2 1000W and 4 600w all dimmable 1 1000w burned out i called the factory rep and sent me a new no ? asked i have had no problem the rest, i talked to the rep and he said the company tecks. said the timer was the problem and that was the only 1 running on a cheep timer the rest are on wall Mont hard wire timers the funny part was i never said any thing about timers and they did not know i was running it on a cheep harbortools plug in timer they said the cheep timer problem was low voltage because of leakage i am not teck but it makes sense but i did not have to send the bad 1 back so i opened it and it looks like a bad capacitor hard to tell because there was some black plastic or acrylic covering most the inside of the ballast, a friend of mine works at electronics repair shop looked at it and agreed ha said if he can get some of the plastic off he can fix it. however after all is said and done i am happy with them.

You liar.

Below are the emails, skype conversations between you and your partner with me.See the email you sent to us, see what you have done to the ballast you purchased from our company, who modified the ballasts and complained making these sitting was very time consuming??

After I showed the evidence you modified the ballast, you threatened us, yes, you already defamed us to sully our reputation in many public forums!! You liar!!!

Everything I post is 100% truthful, I will let everyone who come here to know the truth, if I am lying, you can sue me and our company as you threatened us 4 years ago. You liar!

Bonnie,

I am ***’s partner in Canada… The fact that you are playing this game over your faulty product is shameful. I am a VERY powerful man on the internet and I will have absolutely no problems documenting our experience with you and your company in a public forum where everyone searching for information about Welthink and your faulty products can see just how you and your company conduct business.

Your email dated July.11,2008, complained making these sitting was very time consuming.

2) The variable resistors in all the ballasts must be set at maximum settings from the factory so we get best output. That is the market requirement. Presently we are making these settings and it is very time consuming. Please have this done at assembly line.

The skype record dated July.11,2008, I warned your partner stop to modify the ballast.

[2008-7-11 8:34:00] ***911: hi Bonnie - yes i am but was going to sleep so if its 10 mins I can chat . Is that OK?
[2008-7-11 8:34:18] bonnie: ok
[2008-7-11 8:34:50] bonnie: do you mean you are adjust the variable resistors in the ballast?
[2008-7-11 8:34:59] ***911: yes
[2008-7-11 8:35:08] bonnie: please stop it
[2008-7-11 8:35:19] ***911: why
