Well Water

I have noticed since moving to the country my water is very different here. My ppm is around 34 and ph be around 6.8. But I have this oily film that sits on top of my water after it sits out for a while. My well is close to my pond that’s only 15ft away...I saw the same oily looking film in my pond this summer. Could my water be coming from the pond? My plants are 3 weeks in flower...and all my plants are showing signs of yellow tips on leaves even the newer growth. Growing in coco/perlite using AN Sensi Grow/Bloom A&B,Big Bud,CalMag,and B52. Bout to switch nutrients to GH because it’s more affordable. Will this water ruin my grow? Damn, I done got so far in..even some of my vegging plants are slowly showing same symptoms.

I would get a filter for your tap water, or switch to destilled and buy it. Remember you will need to look into other supps if you go this route.

And no switching will not be bad. Just do it slow.

Thanks for the link after reading I see now that my problem could be from my well being to close to the pond. Damn, will have to get a system to help clean it now..

34 PPM is very low for well water, that could indicate the water is not mineralized ground water and is coming from the pond as you suspect. Whats the PPM on the pond water?

A good RO filter is a great investment. This way you are starting with a clean slate thats consistent. If your water pressure is low then you will want a booster pump.

I love GH Flora 3 part, with calimagic and Armor si. Been running the GH for 30 years and have tried a few others only to go right back to GH.

Will go check and see what the ppm is in the pond

Friend here in AZ is a real estate broker. Sales require one. Might check and see if you can go back and ask...
Right just about any state will require water to be tested if it’s a well. Too many contaminants Out there. Also @OG Stoner31 34 ppm for a well or a pond is stupid low I’d def look into where your water is coming from. Most counties Will hold on the the well info as in giving you the information like how deep amount of bags of clay and junk they used. For ref my house I just sold in Michigan the well water was around 240- 312 ppm and I used it all the time for my grows with not issue.

A UV water sterilizer wouldn't be a bad idea.It won't be the perfect solution to correct everything but at least you'll be killing the harmful stuff if there is any. They make systems for well water but your lookin at close to a grand i think for them at a minimum.

I don't know where you live but for almost 2 decades I ran water plants and would receive calls from people who wanted their water tested from time to time and I never turned anyone down even if they weren't on our water system.
The best thing was it was free !
You'll probably need to visit the plant and pick up a sterilized sample bottle for your sample.
The tests can be anything from Ph , iron , manganese , alkalinity levels to bacteria testing and more complex tests.
Just search out the local water provider in your area and call them.
