Too big to fail a joke?

Real description too politically connected to fail?

Too major of a contributor to fail?

I guess CIT didn't contribute enough to the Democrats...

Or maybe it's because it's a small business lender, and the Democrats are hell bent on turning everyone into mindless consumers for the benefit of the Fortune 500, and fucking over the little guy.
That's exactly right, TBT.

Obama is operating right out of Saul Alinsky's play book.

In other words, talk like you are for the middle class; i.e.,"No tax increases on anyone making under 250k per year." Then raise the minimum wage, pass a VAT tax, increase taxes on small businesses ... and a sundry of other new regulations, laws and taxes that will be passed along to the middle class and the poorest among us. All of this to enslave the citizens and keep them down on the Federal Plantation.

Taxes go down hill, just like Tax Cuts go down hill. In the end it is the working classes that are going to get the shaft, even Obama admitted this when he stated that, "Electric Rates are going to skyrocket."

I still have no idea who in their right mind would have voted for him. I wonder if everyone that voted for him was hypnotized or something. Matter in fact, I thought I read an article that mentioned something about him using post-hypnotic suggestion techniques in his speeches...

No - they were merely desperate for something other than a republican after 8 years of Bush. A majority of people could have cared less who they were voting for as long as it wasn't a republican. You must keep this in mind. It was much the same with Germany when Hitler was elected (and I'm in NO way comparing Obama to Hitler). There was such a vacuum of power that the people were looking for any kind of leadership. Obama provided that to the people with his uplifting speeches (even if they were empty promises and no content). Bush was SOOOOOOOO bad that the people wanted something else.

It's just too bad there weren't any other options. It would have made for an interesting election. Get Paul up there (even though I don't like him). Get Nader up there. Hell, get Jessie Ventura up there. Give them equal media attention and see what happens. But you cannot fully blame the people for choosing what they thought was the right decision (and who knows, it may turn out to be the right decision). They were disillusioned by Bush's deceit and lies and demanded something else. They made that very clear with their vote. So blame Bush. They weren't going to vote for another republican after his nightmare. Do you not agree that he had a heavy hand in this? I guarantee you McCain would say so.

Well, I agree with what you've said here, except I DO blame the people who voted for Obama for not knowing their history. Obama spelled it out very clearly in his Berlin speech when he said something to the effect of: "the majority must learn to sacrifice for the good of the community." In other words: "From each according to his ability, to those according to their needs."

Did any Obama voters stop to ask themselves: "What kind of change is he talking about?"

Just the so called educated person not to have read the article that I'm mentioning...

"And a light will shine upon you on election day, and you will vote for me."

ROFLMAO.

What article? I will always read articles - I just won't watch Youtube videos. And please, why is the "so called educated person" comment necessary? Stop demeaning my efforts please.

Yes, I have to plead guilty to this one as well. But then, some times you make it so difficult not to.

Well, I am a bit of a devil's advocate. But I always try not to be a troll. If a topic is being debated, I like to challenge and prod. But keep in mind, I don't do it to flex my academic muscle. I do it to learn. I cannot count how many times I've changed my personal opinions and arguments because a superior argument was presented to me. I always keep an open mind and engage in edifying debate. I enjoy a healthy and and robust marketplace of ideas. I just get tired of the attacks simply because of what I do. People push me to develop an ethos, so I do. And in doing so, I get attacked for being a pretentious, ivy-tower know-it-all. Either that, or I get called a liar. It's strange.

Ahh, just chalk it up to envy and jealosy, professor. You're a LOT of fun to debate with, and I for one, hope you'll be around this forum for a long time. I think there are others who feel the same. Its pretty rare that someone with your background hangs out with the likes of us. :)

Oh I love this forum. And it's summer, so I have a LOT of free time on my hands. Since I don't get to hang around my peers as much in the summer, I lose the pleasure of their company and debate. This site fills that void during the summer months.

Plus, I keep office hours every day, so it's me, the computer, and my books, with plenty of time to peruse the politics forum.

Yeah, unfortunately we are all victims of doublespeak. Obama employed this skill well during his campaign and he and his underlings continue to even now. I just wanna say that as a black man I wanted him to win and hoped that he would bring the change we need. I'd forgotten that It does'nt really matter who is in the whitehouse because they all have represented a movement towards the erosion of our liberties and America's soverign power as a nation. Obama should stand as a symbol to us that any dirty trick will be used. They would put the Geico geco in a suit and give him all their backing if they thought we would follow him. No tactic is too dirty for them!

So they've chosen the young articulate Illinois senator to shepherd us and convince us to put the shackles on ourselves.
How stupid can we afford to continue to be. They fly a couple of planes into the World Trade Center and then we are offered the Patriot Act as an added measure to our security. We gladly accepted and by doing so have relinquished some of our rights to privacy and due process. These are just examples of how the game is played at a certain level after all it's not checkers it's chess!

He fooled alot of us.
I would like to see him impeached.
Better yet a complete revolution.
I fear it may take nothing short of civil war....where are the true patriots? Think if we ask them nicely they'll give us back our country...not!!!

We're seeing more and more of this every day ... even in this forum. This is why the Obama administration and the congress are in such a hurry to get their agandas passed. They know the 2010 election is coming up real fast and all the folks they duped will be voting them out of office.

All I can say in the meantime is ... read your history so you don't make the same mistake twice. :)

"Between too good to be true, and worse than you can imagine. Bet on worse than you can imagine, especially when it comes to politicians."

Where were all of you "patriots" when Bush lied to Congress and the American people to send us to war in Iraq resulting in more needless deaths of Americans than the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center...or when Bush authorized illegal wiretaps on citizens 6 months before 9/11 circumventing the Fourth Amendment...or when Bush authorized torture of suspects which lowers us to the same kind of inhumane treatment used by dictators and despots...or when Bush included a pardon for himself and top ranking officials for war crimes in an unrelated bill (this pardon, of course did not include the enlisted men and women that carried out his orders)...Now you are calling for a revolution...you're about 8 years too late.
