this thread is for all the people who uses MG and don't get their panties all up in a bunch.... instead of hearing,

waaaah waahhhh.... my plant burn.... i hate you MG....wahhhhh wahhhh

ummmmm, how about not overwatering (prevents burning... and why the hell are you overwatering anyway... stop babysitting your plant)
oh, how about not adding more nutes to something that ALREADY has nutes? (damn....how much do YOU eat? greedy bastards)
how about this one...buying soil just to pick out all the white stuff out of it, DOESN'T make sense.... (do you date girls that you have to makeover? i didn't think so)
PH problems? don't blame MG (PH stands for playa hater...thats right...MG has a playa hater problem...haha....stop hating all you big face bastards)

bottom line... MG doens't suck... you do...haha...

sorry...had to say this... getting tired of people on here "swearing on their lives" not to use the stuff....

people CAN and ARE ABLE TO grow with the damn thing...so please... stop given out bs... people come here for help and guidance... i understand everyone has things they like and are good suggestions/alternatives... but when i see a something like...

Newbie: i have miracle grow, 2 cfl's up my butt blah blah blah
response: don't use MG... i "HEARD" and "READ" not to use it... (stfu with the he say, she say crap... i know i'm rude..sorry)

or the other typical response: don't use it... MG burns and blah blah blah

i truly believe, if you can grow in MG... you were doing the right thing, which is basic gardening and following directions...which means you are able to adjust if you choose a different soil later on... you also know how to treat the plant and what to look for...

this excludes experience growers (unless you have beef with MG... well then...welcome, come on in, i would like to introduce you to my foot) haha.. i love this site

Screw MG.

Any knob can grow marijuana in MG, sure the stuff is a little hot, big deal. If Grandma can grow a African Violets in it, I can surely grow some weed.

No, I hate MG because they are not a good company. In fact they are a bad company. A greedy multi-national chemical company. The EPA is constantly suing them. Their own employees are suing them for exposing them to mystery chemicals, women exposed to their factories are giving birth to flipper babies, the list never ends. THIS is your hero?

The thing people need to realize is that miracle grow is not for newbs and it does require a bit more care (and sometimes not as much such as overwatering) and people do not know how to handle MG and try anyways, lose a crop and blame it on the easiest reason.

i myself have had good and horrible bouts with MG.

but never once have i blamed it on my soil, each and everytime i occured a problem i was able to pinpoint times where i lacked in care, or gave a little too much.

newbies especially feel like if they keep their soil drenched it will promote growth and end up nute burning, and then start pounding more nutes into their system thinking they are helping something.

As a word of advice, read throughout RIU and find articles relating to MG and find ways to improve, do a couple grows and you'll understand what it takes to grow with MG.

And one last thing, do NOT play the adventurous part and go experimenting unless you are fully prepared to spend alot of time rehabilitating if your experiment doesnt go well, and maybe even be prepared for a loss! :( :(

hey Picasso... i didn't know about the things you stated.... and no...MG isn't my hero..

i was just putting it out there that a lot of people curse the day that MG was ever invented... but are quick to blame MG instead of just saying it was their own overzealousness that harmed the plant... because its hard to tell people not to use the thing when there are people showing that you are capable of using the stuff... even newbies... because all the stress you put on the plant while you are using MG, is still the same stress you would have applied, even if you were using something else... overwatering is still overwatering, too many nutes is still too many nutes, etc..

but as far as the moral issues with MG... i'm not with it, thanx fo that info

I've started out with MG. My plants are getting big, but they look god awful
I have Hard Water. The PH is way high. They have been growing for about 3 months now. Can't wait to get them cut and into my hydro though. I have mad over watering probs, because I have 5 plants and they all seem to want water at different times. However, I can't sit there and watch each one. It's annoying actually. If I know one isn't ready to water, then I come back to it 8 -12 hours lately, then it will be droopy loopy as all hell. So I water them all at the same time now, and as I said before they look like shit. All the stuff at the bottom has died and what is left on the bottom looks like little popcorn growing off it and it tends to shrivel and die off too. I finally am able to PH my water. I've been at it for about 1 week now of correct PH. They are growing better now, but over all I have the ugliest plants on all of RIU.

I can't wait to get going 100% hydro. I may start another soil down the road, but right now, it's not been fun for me.

Ok, well i started 22 seeds about a month and a half ago, in MG, 2 survived, so what did i do wrong, all i did was put them in the MG soil and watered them when they where dry, all the plants just stopped growing, turned yellow and purple, and died, but i have (8) 3 footers that are in MG soil that are doing great, so im stumped. I cant seem to win with MG.

Watering can be really difficult or it can be very easy. If you aren't sure when your plants need water pick them up right before you water them. If they feel light they need water, if they feel heavy they don't. Of course you're now wondering, "How am I supposed to tell if they are 'heavy' or 'light?'"

Easy, fill up a pot with the same soil you used for your other plants. After about a week the moisture in the soil will evaporate and now you have what a thirsty plant will feel like. After doing this a few times you'll get to know how light a plant is when it needs water.

And you should NOT water all your plants at a time if they don't need it. I know it may suck to have to water on different cycles but you'll end up killing you plants from too much or too little water.

It's natural that your larger plants will need more water than your smaller plants so you just have to deal with it if you want your plants to be healthy. Using clones will help you avoid that but cloning isn't really worthwhile for people only growing a few plants at a time; WAY too much hassle vs. simple seeds.

I'm a noob who started in MG.. had 3 of 8 get burned. Probably from overwatering .. peeps need to remember that a little tiny seedling only transpires a little tiny water, and doesn't need any extra nutes over what most any soil will provide for the first couple weeks.

I made a little experiment of the 3 "burns" -- I transplanted one into a basic, nute-free topsoil, one into a 70/30 basic/MG mix, and left one in the original MG. Two of my 3 casualties have clearly pulled out, one looks a goner but keeps hanging on and just started to grow again (the 70/30 one). The remaining 5 look fantastic -- putting on 1-2 inches a day, branchy, stout.

Point is, if you burn 'em with MG, don't give up -- adjust, be patient, cool it on the water.

Rotate your plants under your lights -- this will keep evaporation rates even across your pots, eliminating the problem of trying to remember which plants to water on what days.

Now that I've got a clue, I'm at least going to use up the other 7 bags of MG I haven't even tapped yet. I will play around with other things 'cause that's what I do, but so far, MG is working.
