Weird Leaf Texture - Hep me please

So sorry gals and guys - No Pics at Moment -
Just imagine though; full, otherwise healthy, fresh Clones about 3in tall in 6inch containers. Nice white root system from cloner when planted a week ago. Tried and true soil. And one third strenght nutes in ph'd water every other watering. SO here's the prob: The leaves have turned a darker than usual green but the front half of the leaf has a sandpaper type of textured look. Complete with tiny little spikes that feel rough to the touch. I have never seen any kind of plant do this and so now . . . I humbly come before the Omnipitant Braintrust in hopes of enlightenment and wisdom.

How often and how much are you watering and what kind of ferts? Sounds like it may be overwatering or excess nitrogen.
