Week old Jack-47.Purple and yellow leafs, curling. Need help.

I resently started a Sweet Seeds Jack-47 fem. seed and i ran in to a little problem.:-( The new leafs that came in are purplish at the bottom and bright yellow at the tips. The first set of leafs are curling. She is only a week and two days old. If anyone can help that would be great, ill try to give the most info i can and ill try and post some pictures.
I have been watering it with bottle water for now, still waiting for ph kit. I have been watering it every 2 or 3 days.
I am using Fox Farms Ocean forest soil.
85watt clf 6500k, sits about and inch> from the top.
Temps with light on are around 74-78F lights off are 64-70.
If anyone can let me know what is wrong, and what i can do do help would be much apprish.

probably just the soil. try not to overwater that big pot it's going to be hard not too but seedling should perk up soon.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was Thinking it might be a little big i just thought it might be better to start it in a bigger pot so i would only have to do one transplant into a 5gal...still pretty new to this. Ill be sure to try and not over water, i hear that its one of the most made mistakes. Thanks again for the input.
Also, i have the fox farm line up grow big tiger bloom and big bloom. when should i start feeding?

check out foxfarmfertilizer.com and click feeding shedule. You should be good for a few weeks with the ocean forest. I'd recommend starting in a seed starting mix..FF lw is good but expensive and then transplanting into the ocean forest and than transplanting into the 3 gals later on before you go to bloom.

did you hand mix that soil or was it straight out of a bag? Reason i am asking is did you add perlite to the mix at all? If so what kind? You have to watch as most of Miracle Grow and other store bought brands have a small amount of nutes in them. Its not a lot but if you add enough of it, and looks like you have a big pot there, it may be slightly over fed. Not by water but by nutes. This early in the game they dont need to bed feed so to speak, but need to be provided the right elements. If you concentrate on developing a healthy root system the rest will fall into play. Like above mentioned, you may want to transplant down to something that has some good seed starting medium. This will allow for proper aberration and healthy root development.

It's one of two things i can think of that is causing this,thats if your using nutrients at that young of a stage in the little guys life u can easily kill it,weak yel;low plants are sings of too much nuts.theyre too young for that rite now.if that is the case wat u need to do is wash the roots,take the plant out of the pot and put it in a bucket of warm water and let the soil wash away from the roots,when its all gone get another bucket of fresh water and let the plant sit in there for about an hour then re plant it in new soil......if thats not the case then the lights are too close and the temp. in your room is too high.get a fan if you dont already have one..gook luck n lemme know if this helped

I did add a little mg perlite to it, not alot though. I have heard of the O.F being high in nut but i didnt think it would burn seedlings. Will it be fine if i leave it how it is or do you think the nut burn is going to get worst? I can get the lw for pretty cheap here so that wont be a problem. I also started a greenhouse bubba kush in a 18oz party cup thats just popped up. It is also in the O.F. would it be a good idea to transplant it in to some lw befor the same thing happens to it?

yea i wld,if u had that problem with the others using the same soil and mix then its most likely going to happen again,you dont want to start feeding them till about 2 weeks in

Alright thanks for your input. I have not feed them any nuts. I will probly pick up some l.w soil that dosnt have any nuts in it and transplant into that, if i do so should i keep the same size of bucket or put it in a small 18oz party cup? Im not sure if the stress from that will weigh out the dif of it being in such i big pot with the o.f. soil...?

The size doesnt really matter at this point,all the size of the pot does is vary your growth speed..bigger pot..more room for roots...bigger plant,faster...smaller pot,medium groth speed..smaller(shorter) plant.if u feel more comfterable putting it in an 18 oz cup than u can but youre just going to have to transplant in about 2 weeks any way because the roots will out grow the cup.so your best bet is to just put it in a 8 or 10 " pot

Thanks for your input its much apprishiated. Ill prob. be starting a grow journal soon. :leaf:

I wouldn't transplant the ones that are already established it will probably do more harm than good but in the future use the seed starting mix for young sprouts, since your gonna start more seeds.

It really wont hurt em at all as long as he transplants correctly as doesnt shock it's growth.jst remember always trans plant during the light cycle,jst saying cause i dnt know how much ya know lol

Alright, saves the stress on me and my plant from transplanting :eyesmoke:. Hope the nut burn goes away soon, is this going to effect potentcy and yeld? I was thinking about still trying to trasplant the bubba kush in to the lw to see if it works better for it, it just came out of soil 3 days ago...seems to be going really slow. The seed is still on the top of the plant, and its been the same size sence i seen it out of the soil.

the reason for the bubba kush is because it's in shock,jst make sure it gets its water,lots of good strong light and give it a cpl more days.what kind of lights are you using?

Im using cfls for veg. Right now i have a 85watt(350equal) 6500k on the jack-47 and i 14watt 6500k on the bubba kush as of right now. I have another 85watt, should i go ahead and put that over the bubba? Ill get a picture of the bubba soon so you have an idea of whats goin on.

yea you should put the other 85w 65k.plants need all the light they can get in order to be healthy and happy.and down the road if u can afford and or arent hiding this from anyone you should look into these CFL's..Feliz 200w 6500k and 2700k cfl's with a brite wing cfl reflector or a hydro foam reflector.unless u have hps u plan on using for flowering

The first set of leaves (water leaves) should die off quickly. It sounds like they're over cooked too.
You can try to flush the nutrients out of the soil but you're better off just leaving them to see how they go.

You could try keeping the soil a little dryer and just foliar feeding (spraying) for a week or two.
You might also want to keep the light about three inches away from the plant.

Early on it doesn't really matter about how much room you give them.
I may have left this one a bit long before I transplanted it though. bongsmilie

Ill be using a 250watt hps (33,000lumens) for flowering to clear that up. One question though why do your surgest moving the light back to 3in? Are you saying its to hot or just to much light for seedlings?
