Week four flowering, tips changing -- normal? Or a problem...???

Hey All,

Quick photos of my two Hydro girls -- they've been great. They're 4.5 weeks from 12/12 flip. Last week they were drinking water but no nutes. I did a flush and res change. Now they're drinking nutes again. But now the tips of the fan leaves are yellowing/dying. This is Jillybean 60/40 sat/ind.

PH is 5.6-5.8-ish, ppms are 800. 400WT HPS in a grow tent. Super healthy otherwise. Is this tipping/browning normal for this stage, or is it related to what might have been lockout (not taking nutes) and now that the lockout is fixed I don't have to worry about it.

The leaves here look very dark, but that's because there's very little tungsten light in my room, and the hps was off for lights off. They're actually a medium green. First photo is of the tips, taken tonight, the other is of a bud site with a ton of trichs, taken Sunday.

Any advice much appreciated!

They look just like the ones im growing atm. When I see tip burns like these, the first thing that springs to mind, is that its getting a bit heavy on nutes. But then again, your 4 weeks into flowering, and your ppm sounds quite normal. I woundt worry, from what i've seen, the flowering process tends to steal alot of energy in the plant, leaving fan leaves to become vounrable to tipburning/yellowing, and even more so towards the very end of flowering.

That's what I'm hoping...that this is within the bounds of normal. Still, if someone thinks I should back off on the nutes (I have read that some people start decreasing around now), then that's what I'll do. Just want to make it through the next 4-5 weeks to have something to show for all this! :)

The fact that both my plants, in two buckets, went through the not-drinking nutes thing last week and then this week are both showing this tipburning makes me think that this is part of their life-cycle. And I also thought if they weren't taking nutes last week they might be pulling energy from the fan leaves. The buds were developing nicely, so the plant had to get energy from somewhere -- and that might be why the tips are drying out.

I stop cal mag at a couple weeks and you can tone down your n about 20% in the last couple weeks. I use moab for 2 weeks then snowstorm ultra the last 2 weeks and flush with clearex the last 48-24. I just started using the moab and it gave it a very slight tip burn but I read from a grower that he gets the tips a little burned so he knows the plant is at its max idk if its good or bad but his buds were hella huge so im not going to worry about it unless it gets worse on mine

nutes are kinda like bud you smoke without smoking for a long while and it kicks your ass if you miss a nute or 2 imo I always do the first one half strength so it gets used to the nutes again

I also ran just water for a week about 3 weeks in to flower. I got the yellow tips, to be honest though after I ran water for a week or ten days went back on the food and I'm not sure if the yellow occurred from the lack of food or nute burn. I'm not to worried about it now they have been going fine and are so close now. 14 days or so....

I would be looking into your nutes. Perhaps your NPK is a bit off balance and they're getting too much of one relative to the others. How are your temps and humidity?
