Week 8/Harvest Journal

Hello hello! I'm nearing the end of my grow and would like to share a picture on the first day of week 8. They're definitely packing on weight right now... might let them go 9 weeks but it'll make my christmas bud into new years bud ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This thread will document the final days, harvest, and cure of my Larry OG (left) and Nitroglycerin (right) grow.

They both received a final flush of 7 gallons last week. The nitro was watered yesterday with a gallon of water and bembé but the larry og hasn't dried out fully and I might just leave her to dry out this last week as well.
It looked like the promix had enough perlite originally but lesson learned there. My next run I'll be switching it up to the black gold organic with additional perlite.

Looks great op...as far as the few white pistols...they will kick out new pistils forever...looks gtg to me.

Let me ask you this.

Did all your pistils turn and then those popped?

There really is just alot of them left. I'd wait another week or 2 if it were me maybe 3.

Your in week 8. Many strains run until week 12. I had one run for 15 weeks of flower.

Did you check the trichomes?

Yeah thats all new growth that just started coming in on Friday after watering with Bembe sweetener for her final watering. Hoping she fills in some more! I was thinking of letting her go 9 or 10wks. Havent checked the trichs. Dont have a loop but shes 100% milky and some lower buds are 50% amber. Tops are more milky. I'd say about 75% amber at 9 wks. Thats insane considering this weed is instant sleep when I harvested 6 wks in the past.

I'm willing to be the amber is on sugar leaves not on the buds. Those definitely aren't done.

Try this maybe it will help.

So you dont have a jewlers loupe or a usb microscope to check your trichomes

I've been on a search for a easier way to get a close look at trichomes. A jewelers loupe is cool but my hands shake to much to get a solid look nor does it take pics. A USB microscope is cool if I take a bud off to look at close but again my hand shakes to much to get great pics while looking...

It's a strain called nitroglycerin. My dispo has only stocked it once and they claim it was an in house cross that they don't have anymore. The flavor and smell is like berry cereal with straight fuel. The first time I grew it she hermied on me. Found about 20 seeds plump and black and the smoke was still a knockout and harvested early because it looked done... kinda scared. 9wks no seeds this time grown under a better light is gonna be amazing.

They look damn good 1st of all lol :weed:
If the new pistils are all around the buds, I would let it rock out. A week or 2.
I'd baby them tho, always checking those pistils to see if there are new ones before those
there turn reddish brown, and curl up. If they curl up before the new pistils show up, I'd
give her the ax. Just not before I was sure.
As well as finding a calyx to keep checking daily for amber heads in the meantime.
I try to always check the same spot for progress.

The plant on the right, with more purple leaves and the frostier nugs, that one I would say another week or two. The plant on the left, in the back, that one has a ways more to go from the looks of things. Just watch those trichomes as those are what we are really after. My take on the matter is a milky trichome is the peak, amber is degraded so we don't want a bunch of amber IMO. So when I look at trichomes I consider milky as the goal, cloudy being good but not quite there yet and clear is just a baby lol. If I get mostly milky and a little cloudy and the amber starts showing up I have taken it as far as I want and it's all downhill from there.
