Weed in the Closet - Is it Effected by the Light in My Room?

I'm going to plant in my closet. I was wondering how the light in my room will effect this if I choose to open the closet door (maybe for ventiliation, although I have a fan). If the light period is on in the closet, is it okay to have light on in my room with the door open? Will it effect the light or the plant like that?

What kind of light you have? Any direct or indirect light will affect a flowering plant but it's ok for a seedling or a plant in vegetative growth. A flowering plant must have 12 hours light and 12 hours COMPLETE darkness, and I mean complete, complete as in pitch black for the entire 12 hours.

Tj, the more light during the lighting period, the better. Having your closet door open is ok UNLESS it leads to lost lumens. Ideally, you want to reflect as much light as possible back onto the plants, so having an open door means you will be bleeding some light that could be hitting the plants instead. During the dark period, you want it as dark as possible.

Jimbo, you raise an interesting point of nature vs. artificial growing conditions. In nature, the plants have moonlight part each month. I am no scientist and have no idea how many lumens a plant would receive during a full moon. I would venture not a significant amount, especially in the spectrum that's important for a plant to grow. Ideally, you want no light during the dark phase, including street light, night lights, etc.

Oh yeah, that makes perfect sense, I don't know why I didn't think of that. Guess I'll be keeping the door closed for the most part then. Thanks guys.

It really shouldn't matter as long as the lights that are on the plants are on. When the lights in your grow area are off, then you want your babies in COMPLETE DARKNESS. Make sure nothing interrupts them when your grow room lights are off. If you are planning to have your lights in your room on while your babies are "sleeping" then maybe block the closet until no light can go through. Good luck!

I intend to use a second closet for flowering.
I am not sure I want to set up another set of lights in the other closet yet though.
