Ways to harvest

Harvesting

Whats Up Y'all,

••• My thoughts this time around is... If I typically cut the plant down from its main stem and hang upside down in my drying tent (at proper temps & humidity ) for X amount of days it works just like 99% of harvesting tips tell you. BUT... What would be the difference if I just shut the lights off and let the plant dry out in the soil for X amount of days (of course at the proper temps and humidity ) ??? •••

I'm 24hrs dark and 48hrs since last water. Soil is pretty dam dry. In majority of my previous grows I cut now and hang. I usually don't even let the soil get this dry. I typically cut and it's still relatively moist for lack of better words.

What are your thoughts VS. mine ? What is your method ? What do you think the ramifications would be ? Any and all comments are greatly appreciated.

I remember watching a documentary about marijuana growing in Lebanon, who are famous for their blond hash, they let their plants dry in the fields before they cut it and store it for months before they process it into hash.

You got some nice looking bitches :weed:, good job.

Wow that does sound pretty cool. They do have the best hash in my limited experience. Thanks for sharing. Greatly appreciated.

Do a search on this site ‘brown bushin’
I believe you kill the root mass instantly by pouring boiling water into the medium. You leave the plant in the pot in the tent over a month—Never done it myself but the info is out there

bad idea
the plant will.die slowly your buds will prob rot.
theres a reason you chop
it stops the plant from being alive and trying to save itself
Ya definitely not gonna do that. It's already chopped down. I was just curious. I figured bud Rot for sure too.

I have done this and ended up with cobweb mold. Excess humidity/moisture was also a factor but just as a set of plants were maturing we lost power for almost a week. “Super storm” Sandy flooded the main grow area but the plants were elevated on milk crates. When it all drained out and power was finally restored I fired up the dehumidifier but was too late. The bud had already started to mold in spots.

I let them dry out in the pots a bit before I chop. The longest I have gone was 7 days but usually I chop about 4-5 days after the last water. Provided you maintain adequate airflow/RH/temp there is no issue.

I feel like drying time is about 1-3 days longer doing it this way, which I prefer.
