Watering Schedule for Ebb and Flow

So im starting my first hydro system in a new location (not my first hydro ever though) and my roommate did his previous setup very different than I did. My first setup was a top-fed drip system into rockwool cubes. He did a regular ebb and flow last cycle.

I would water the cubes maybe twice a day. He watered his every half hour. His reasoning was by filling and draining so many times it would bring more oxygen to the roots. My reasoning was to prevent root rot. Both of us had successful grows so they both work but is one more stressful to the plants than others? What has everyone else done?

TIA everyone :joint:

I use Ebb-n-Flow for veg, and drip for flower. I run them both on the same watering cycle. Every three hours for fifteen minutes. I'm using a one inch peat type plug in hydroton, but I ran the same schedule when I grew in four inch rockwool.

I didn't really think there was a wrong way unless they die. Just figure I should get some more input.
I have rockwool cubes sitting on coco mat

You guys, he's using hugo blocks, which don't need to be watered nearly as much. I got away with SOG style plants twice a day @ 15 minutes. Bigger bushes 3 times a day @ 15 minutes. Of course with the blocks as long as you're overflow isn't too high it wont bother them to water more often since they drain really easily. If I was to ever do these blocks again, i'd prefer drip as I noticed all of the root growth was at the bottom of the cube and the top was barely even occupied by tap roots. Unless you're on a coco mat or plugging into slabs, you want to keep those roots from escaping the bottom.

My overflow is about 2/3 the way up the cube. When I did my drip system I didn't have many roots up near the top but I was using coconat than too.
