watering pump. oil-less?

I use a submersible pump attached to a section of garden hose to water my plants.
The other night I noticed that the pump had puked its oil into my watering tub, so I threw the pump away.
What pumps do people here use, and do you specifically search out oil-less pumps?

If I was running hydro I believe I would have lost everything.

What type of submersible pump are you using?

Mag drive pumps have no oil...some dont even have bearings so no lubricant needed..

it is pretty much a sump pump that is on when it is plugged in and off when it is unplugged.
I put a water valve on the wand to control flow.
worked well for five years.
But I try to learn from my mistakes.

No oil in that pump...greased bearings. The bearing is sealed to keep the grease in but water may have gotten through.

For 60 bucks and 5 years of use...not bad. Google Danner mag drive pumps. 500-700gph is probably close to the mastercraft pump.

Just a tip...try not to run the pump while the valve in your wand is closed. Very hard on any pump.

agreed.
And five years for 60 bucks is not bad. a buck a month.
I actually believe that I accidentally left the pump on for over 24 hours with the valve only minimally open, and that is what did the seal in. There was only a few inches in my reservoir, and the pump heated the water up during the 24 hours.
If there is no oil in this pump, it must be passing the water over grease or something because it left a definite oily film on the water, oily to the touch, and a definite oily smell to it.
100% my own fault.

Probably got hot enough to make the grease run...thins out like oil.
