Hey noel,

Before the seed germinates/sprouts.. it is important to keep the soil moist and not soggy..

Once the seed has sprouted.. you want to keep the soil moist but NOT soggy... just enough moisture so that the delicate tap root does not dry out ... BUT nor do you want to suffocate it in SOGGY MUD...

after 7-14 days of healthy growth... you should start watering only whne the container is light and the top 2-4 inches of soil are dry... when you do water, WATER thoroughly... water with 1/2 - 1 gallon of water for every watering...

A 1000 watt BULB can be great for a young plant.. BUT it is very very risky... make sure you watch you plant closely, checking on it every 30 minutes to 1 hour for the first day you EXPOSE your seedling to such an intense bulb.. have a fan blowing air between your seedling and the light.. start with the light 2-4 feet from your seedling and lower it a couple inches every day...

Use the hand test... if your hand can withstand the heat, so can the plant.. but if the light is to hot for you hand when you have it at foliage level... then raise the light or increase the airflow...
