Watering Devices

Hey ya’ll,

Using 5gallon grow bags with soil/coco/perilite mixture in a 4x4 tent.

What Does everyone use to water their plants? I’ve been using a watering can but I’m finding as my tent fills out, it’s harder and harder to water. Does anyone use a can with a pump and a wand? I only have 4 plants, so only need a couple gallons, but tipping a watering can and trying to get it to the places in the dirt that need it, is proving to be orettt difficultCurious what everyone else uses to make watering easier?

A funnel that will fit 1/2 tube, hose clamp, 3 pieces 1/2 T's and some 1/2 Tube. Tie the funnel up in the top corner and dump away.
You could also swap the funnel for a bucket and a pump with a 1/2 barb.

I use the bucket for smaller jobs and the tub for bigger batches of whatever. The larger pump I use with the tub with a longer hose. But a drip system would be even easier.

My old growroom had a gravity fed drip emitter system that worked beautifully. It sounds complicated, but it’s actually pretty easy- and fairly inexpensive, too.

First, you need a reservoir- a square cat litter bucket is just about perfect for this purpose. Drill a hole for the outlet about an inch above the highest point in the bottom, and install the spigot and shut off valve.

Run your 1/2” tubing and install the drip emitters (I suggest using 1/4” tubing with plenty of slack to reach each container). Clamp off the end and you’re basically done.

Now, every time you water, you just fill the bucket and all your plants will get watered with no waste. The remaining water at the bottom you can just dump on a plant.

The emitters and other components are relatively cheap, and you can find everything at Home Depot. I love this kind of irrigation system and use it for landscaping and gardening.

I figure if you're gonna go through the trouble of plumbing a top-feed system, you might as well add a pump and timer for automation.
Yup, you have the flexibility to do this, too. There’s a lot of different possibilities, and finding one that works best for your situation is just a matter of experimentation.

Personally, I liked my bucket, because it worked great and it was dirt cheap lol

In this configuration I had all my shit in one place... water hose, nutes, etc. So I'd just do my mix in the jug, and turn the T valve and walk away.... took about 10 min to empty the 6 gallons into the 4 pots. And I only had to to this every 2-3 days.

Yup, exactly. Plus it’s a measured amount, so you can precisely calculate how much nutrient solution or whatever you need to add. Mine got fed weekly this way.

I like wilma systems or my own made watering res and pump.

But on occasion I've used a bit of plastic gutter about 1m and you can just pop it on the pot you want and jug into it.

Can't beat automated watering though
