Waterfarm help!

Hey guys
For my next grow I decided to go and try general hydro waterfarm for a grow. I have a couple soil grows under my belt, but I just got an r/o system installed.

I have a million questions but will just need some pushes in the right direction. First off how do I start a seed in hydrotron? If I just stick it in rock wool do I stick the rockwool in there and then leave it?

How often do I change the resivor on these things....

And what's the best nutrients is there a general consensus on what is the best?

Am I going in the right direction in picking this medium? Should I just stick with soil? And articles or information I can read is also appreciated. Flaming isn't :(

Also what should the ppm levels and ph levels be?

I've been basically running a big water farm for years now with the eco grower. I can tell you honestly that the Flora Nova series is great but it's so thick that it'll clog any drip rings in under a week. I don't use rock wool because I've had to fight mold on it from a constant flow of water over it, I suggest going with oasis cubes. You'll also want to add a air stone to the rez too. As far as nutes go I run Botanicare Pro series with great results.

All measurements ML per Gal.

Veg Botanicare
Pure Blend Pro Grow 8
Liquid Karma 3
Calmag 2
Hydroguard 6
Vitamino 3
Silica Blast 4
Great White 2 scoops for 25gal
Then flush with 150ml Clearex for 24hrs before rotate to flower

Flower weeks 1 and 2
Pure Blend Pro Grow 5
Pure Blend Pro Bloom 5
Liquid Karma 2
Calmag 2
Hydroguard 3
Vitamino 3
Sweet Raw 4
Silica Blast 3
Great White 3scoops to 50gal
then flush with 150 ml Clearex for 24hrs

Flower weeks 3-5
Pure Blend Pro Bloom 10
Liquid Karma 2
Calmag 2
Hydroguard 3
Vitamino 3
Sweet Raw 6
Silica Blast 3
Hydroplex 3
Great White 3scoops
then flush with 150ml Clearex for 24hrs

Flower weeks 6-8 (or til finished)
Pure Blend Pro Bloom for soil 10
Liquid Karma 2
Calmag 2
Hydroguard 3
Vitamino 3
Sweet Raw 8
Silica Blast 3
Hydroplex 4
no Great White
The credit for this recipe goes to SuperStoner and it's great!
You change the rez when you have added back whatever amount you started with back to it or 2 weeks have passed whichever comes first. Just add plain water because you won't know what nutes the plant is taking up and adding nutes back to it just screws things up.
PH should be between 5.5 and 5.8 fluctuations are good because the plant can take up different nutes easier at different ranges.
Add far as ppm goes start low and work your way up.
250 in the seedling stage and then I stick with what I posted and do fine.
If you really want lessons check out

That'll give you lots of useful info.

Ok, the people from gen hydro said to just get the single units which doesn't have a separate Rez (just same bucket) should I still get an air stone?

How much water do I put in those buckets?

Do I put those horticubes right in the hydrotron? Or do I pull the seedling out?

And I can't understand what you mean about changing the Rez? You change it when you added back whatever.? Can you go a little more into detail? Nutes water?

I think my ro water is at 7ph. I just add ph down to get it to 5.8? Thanks for bearing with me folks!

I am running a waterfarm right now I find using coco-coir of high quality that has pure 100% coco-coir (I use gold label) works a lot better than the rocks, I just use the rocks at the bottom so I don't get coco in my res. Use synthetic nutes organic will cause problems. Check my grow journal for a look at a Money Maker plant from Strain Hunters(green house seeds) in a water farm with an extra air bubbler(air stone). The air stone will increase growth by a ton. I change my res every sunday and top off between res changes.

always PH your nutrients between 5.0-6.0 I like mine to be between 5.5 and 5.8 usually but a little lower wont kill the plants.

Yoda how much water do I put in these puppies and at what stages? Where do you guys get yours notes from on line and can you suggest some? I think I am going straight hydrotron at first to try it out... And I will add an air stone for improved growth....

Is the point of this system for the roots to hit the resivor? Or are they never supposed to reach it and it's completely fed by the drip? Thanks

So ph my res water? And then ph the nutrient solution before I dump it in?

My r/o water come out phed at 7. Will I need a ton of ph down to constantly ph the water down for my resivoirs?

They will hit the res and its like recirculating as well so very good for drinking plants when thirsty sometimes I see my plant drink half the res in one day during flowering or late veg. Fill the water to the line marked on the blue tube, its a little more than 2 gallons on mine.

Don't use the floranova stuff I used it and it doesn't work well in the water farm it makes the drips clog and get all salt build up I would go with the general hydroponics 3 part or advanced nutrients/ house and garden / canna / other.

O there is a designated line for the water? That clears that up.

Yoda what is the easiest nutrient feeding to use? The less bottles I have to use the better! Thanks!

Some of these mutes are like 600 bucks! From what I know the plant need npk? Right? Are these 700$ nutrient packages scams? I like to keep it simple!

ok honestly the cheapest way is the lucas formula using general hydroponics flora 3 part series check it out google lucas formula theres a very descriptive feeding schedule there should be all you need good luck.

Ok Yoda I appreciate all the help! What would you recommend (disregard cost) for nutrients that is simple yet effective! I want some fat buds so is there something that is easy that might cost a little more?

There's so many good line's of nutrients right now i'm testing out advanced nutrients and it looks great so far but also house and garden are great general hydro are good, the canna line is good, there is a lot more too just gotta test them out and find which is the best for you honestly. But you will need more than base nutrients to get the best buds.
