Water Polymers Already in Soil?

Earlier today in lowes i saw this soil: 2 Cu. Ft. Moisture Max™

I think its pretty much the same thing as regular topsoil with water holding polymers such as these: Soil Moist - Water Storing Hydrogel Granules

do you guys agree or think there is a difference?

just guessing but the moisture max is most likely using vermiculite instead of poly. poly is mostly used for newly planted trees, ornamentals and stuff like that where the "caretaker" is not necessarily going to be very dedicated. also, potting soil is not the same as topsoil.
