water PH problem

i make my nutrient mixture. i measure my ph level in the water and it's usually around 7.5. Then I bring it down to about 6.5 and water my plants.

the next day when i measure the PH level in the same mixture it is again at the level of 7.5. should i keep bringing it down or am I not getting the right read from my meter?

any ideas?

Sounds to me like whatever you are using to mix your nute solution is casing the water to become basified.

It could be your meter though try testing it in neutral water. If it reads 7 its not your meter.

Otherwise yeah your gonna have to keep lowering pH every time. Why do you mix your own nutes? Is there some advantage to that? It seems to me like it would be more trouble than its worth.

It has mainly to do with your nutrients. They have buffers in them that change the ph. Mine usually lower so i just throw some baking soda in her and it bounces up. But to answer ur q you are going to have to ph ur water before every feeding.:bigjoint:

ya ph it before every feeding.

also i read somewhere on here its not good to have your nutes premixed over 24 hours unless you have like an airstone or an airline in the res.
i think it has something to do with bacterias or microbes forming in your container.

but ya check the ph every time before you feed.

thanks for your thoughts guys.

i always take the ph before adding nutes to the water and it is at about 7.5 as it is after adding the nutes i.e. it stays the same.

i also have an airline in the tank and i also manually stir the water before watering.

I guess i need to keep bringing it down then :(

ya i always check ph after i add the nutes.

ya its vital to your plants health to maintain the ph levels, otherwise you will start to have deficiencies or lock outs.
