Do you know if the pellets that he is talking about for the alfalfa meal, is the pellets for horses ?? Like from tractor supply ?? It is much cheaper than buying alfalfa meal .?
You can sprinkle some of that neem seed meal in later I don't think you really need very much. Alfalfa meal is just ground up rabbit pellets. Get some and sprits it with water it will expand ans fluff up just like the alfalfameal. Oh I guess that was answered.
So then everyone agrees that the mix is a good one even if it is a little overkill ? I only ask because that 2.1 mix is in my garage right now cooking ! Lol I sure hope it is a good one ! I was thinking of adding some neem seed meal to it as I have it laying around ?? What do you think of cooking in some neem to this mix ??
You can nix the two kinds of lime just use the powdered dolomite, Soft rock phosphate is fine you don't need the other one and I don't know about the bulb food never tried it. This company's in michigan http://www.organicallydone.com/ Here's some more that I like http://downtoearthfertilizer.com/ http://drearth.com/products/organic-fertilizers/

Actually had an email discussion with the author about a year ago...was working on "Teaming with Fungi". Told me that as little as 80 ppm of P will disrupt "myco" productivity...which is why I switched to a minimalists use of Jack's Citrus. 20/10/20 from the 20/20/20. (Sorry, only close to water only) Did "seem" to help root creation and yield for that matter. I add MykosExtreme over and above what ProMix sticks in.
That stuff is counterproductive for what were doing.

I assume you mean the chem nutes (thus the embedded apology) or is not the myco considered organic?
Yes the chem nutes, that stuff would kill the myco as well. I don't know why promix adds it because it has to come in contact with the roots for it to work. When I put the mycorrhizae in my soil I think I just wasted it. Its more effective if you sprinkle it on the roots. Promix is a good cutter for super soil.

I think what Lowenfels was saying though is, regardless of your phosphorus source it can be detrimental if over 80 ppm. I too am of the mind that Promix adds it so it can be put on the label. :).

How do you know if you're over 80ppm? Does cannabis prefer soils dominated by fungi or dominated by bacteria? I think its a balance between the two myself. Maybe you could talk him into writing a marijuana book. :bigjoint:

I'm pretty sure it's the same
I can't say its the same because I've never used it. Maybe someone will come by and tell us. Some sources are saying its the same thing maybe a little more potent. Its better to add it before because it deters bugs and will keep them out when your soil is cooking.

As my peat adds little in the way of P , I can just make sure the P ppm of what I add is < 80.

That is what I thought but at the same time I don't want to tinker with this 2.1 master mix recipe and bugger it up ! To much cash involved in this mix .

It should be fine I would use less than what they're saying on the bag just to be safe because you already added all kinds of other stuff. I would do a 1/8 or 1/4 cup for every five gallons. I like the idea of sprinkling it on the root zone, it sounds like a good way to keep bugs out.

I mixed it into my base soil for this other super soil( kind soil)grow that I have and everything looks good . It has a smell to it . That is pretty close to the amount I added to 1/4 cup for 5 gallons

It's not for me. Why strain it if you're going to add all that stuff back in anyway? If you want to strain it you could make a tea bag out of a nylon stocking then you can just fish it out when it's done. Fox farm big bloom? Seems a little suspicious. Was that a well placed advertisement?
