Water levels?? first timer with DWC

recently just found out I had some major root rot due to my levels of water being as high as the netted pot, and not letting it breath. since i have lowered the water after letting the roots get some needed root rot enzyme killer, but am unsure of where to keep the levels of water to promote root growth and without killing the plants. How do i know what level to put it at and when to lower it?? Thanks for help on first time!!

i fill mine up so the netpot is under water a little, but i have 2 air pumps and airstones so the roots don't rot:bigjoint:

yes, it is not the airstones, it was a mistake i made in the first weeks of starting that caused root rot in the roots in the hydroton. it still does not answer what the water level should be and also how the water level correlates to root length?

Root rot is not caused by the roots being wet. In DWC the bulk of your roots are under water constantly.
High reservoir temps, low oxygen levels, or dirty conditions in the reservoir can cause the problems.
Clean out your tank, keep the water level just below the net-pots, have plenty aeration, and add Hydrogen Peroxide if you suspect you have rot starting.
