i know what kinda setup im going with a 10gal rubbermaid with fish pumps and airstones setup but i dont know what the water level should be help!

if you are not using a water pump to get water to the roots then you have to bring the water level up to the roots. If you are using rockwool then I would try to keep the water level just below that till you have a better root system then if needed you can drop it a little more.
