Water Level Monitoring/Checking Method

Does Anyone have a good way to monitor check the h2o level at a glance? I like the flow tube method, but right now that would be hard to implement since its an active grow, 2 rez's (one month apart)! Even with the tube check method, have to have some way to mark the level (tap or marker?) as well as mark the increments of water missing for topups....

How would I do this easily and the best? I am looking for a 1gallon increment markings up to 5 gallon, as well as the top fill level...

I thought of just making a stick or something, then just marking this finding a site that does volume calcs, but dunno..Anyone thought of something for this?

BTW Here are some useful volume calc links for yall:

your idea sounds good, a sort of a stick with a floater in water and a hole in the lid through which the stick pokes through. fill the res to desired level and mark with blue, empty 1gal mark with red. hope it helps

I use an LED flashlight up against the reservoirs to illuminate the water level. Permanent maker lines on the outside tell me the level.

Wow those are really good ideas guys! And Zem for the record, that wasn't what I was thinking, a floating level way to mark the level, that's your idea! Brilliant! But ok I'll take credit! Hydroscience: Thanks for that, I will think about it and see what to come up with. I can't use the bulkhead drill thru water level tube as yet, since I am actively running the rez and system with 2 grows now, but seems like a good way. They made the tube blue huh? I guess so light doesnt become a problem into the rez, and clear enough yo see the water level...hmmm
