trust me, after a good water cure done properly, the buds will be nice and smooth and VERY POTENT, in a shorter period of time...not to mention the buds are wayyy cleaner than normally air dried buds...read the whole post man...i did ppm readings on the used water to prove that all the nasties and nutes were removed. altho the bud does loose taste and bag appeal, so if your growing to sell then water curing isn't the way to go but if your wanting a potent clean smoke water curing is top notch. its also a very stealth smoke.

p.s. prolly most of the questions that will be asked are answered in the thread. but i'll be happy to answer them again lol.

Thanks for the great info in this thread. I am definately going to try this out.

Couple of questions. the ppm meter you used, was just to see what's going on for informational purposes, right? Not necessary for the process? I would assume if you change out the water every day for the 7 days, then it's safe to assume they're ready?

Also, if you plan to make butter with some, no need to dry is there? Just go from the 7th day of soaking straight to the stove?

No you don't need a ppm tester, just cold tap water and a cooler.

Also ljjr, didn't see the end results of your thread at HG, how was it?

hey pool, how are you bro!.. actually they came out better than expected, never had to do it on center stage lol, as a matter of fact i am smoking a joint of it as i type getting ashes on the keyboard lol, i made a small batch of cannabutter with some of the bud. nice clear, clean high.

dtfan...now that you mention it i see no reason why you wouldn't be able to go straight to the stove after the 7th day. hmmm gonna try that next time!.
yes the ppm reading was strictly for information i wanted to show that the nasty stuff does come out of the bud when you water cure...your assumption was correct. yep after 7 days they are ready...get em dry as fast as you possibly can, or as you stated no reason why you can't go straight to the stove with it. hell if you do go to the stove with it please post it i would be interested in knowing the results!.

this is such a waste of weed. sorry :(
Ye i agree those buds looked minging when they was dried,id rather just leave small buds on top of my stereo system and smoke the crap damp with all the ppm lol:lol:
Flavour and smell is so important to the thc receptors in my brain,as soon as they smell it they get ready, you know what i mean.

ljjr, I posted these on your other thread and would appreciate some help if you get the time:

1) When you hang dry then jar cure you have to consider humidity, temp, etc of the environment. Do you care about that with water curing- can you just leave them at about room temp(75-80f)?

2) What about harvesting different strains at the same time- can you use the same cooler for each strain? Would it be possible to submerge different strains in the same cooler but in small baskets or something so they don't get mixed up? Any idea what will work for that?

3) What are recommendations for drying with a fan after it comes out of the water- do you need special temps indoors or a dehumidifier?

4) When you placed the buds on a grill rack did you fix the buds to the rack then stand the rack up and have the fan blowing straight at them? Will this work indoors at 75-80f?

5) Someone mentioned drying in an oven. Would you recommend against that and if not, what temp on the oven and for how long, if you already tried it.

6) Where to get a dehydrator and how much are they? How much bud can you dry at once and how long does it take? Does the dehydrator stink of MJ when finished?

7) I don't want my small house stinking from hang drying MJ so this interests me a lot. But how much smell comes from hang drying around 2-4oz in a closet where the door is left cracked and a fan is running inside forcing odor into the house for eight days.. is it a lot of odor? I'm asking this question because to help determine how much I would consider hang drying and how much to water cure. I doubt I'll even have 2 oz before drying at harvest but I just want to have an idea how much smell even as much as 4 oz would create when you hang it inside.

Thanks for answering all these questions.

i water cured about a half the last time so i can try to help

1. weither you air or water cure you always want to do it in a cool dark area. heat and light breakdown thc. i water curing mine in a rarely used bathroom

2. keep in mind that water curing takes away almost all taste/smell/looks. so while i would still prob seperate it using some kind of buffer zone. be prepared to have all weed come out and taste/smell/look the same

3. after the 7 days in the water ui just took my buds out and put them on a paper towl and put them in a rack in my closet. close the blinds to prevent sun getting in and i turned on a small fan that didnt even directly blow on the buds, but it put airflow in the closet the buds were in. water cured weed dries FAST(i pulled my buds out when i got home from work one day and when i woke up the next morning they were 100% completely dry). there is really no need to use an outside source for drying.

4. na

5. i would personally never put my buds in an oven. seems like too much heat. i did use the tupperware/paper towl/microwave method a few times while waiting for my water cured shit to finish(next time ill prob just buy 1 last bag of weed, shit was gross)

6. you can get a dehydrator at any major retail store for like $40 tops. again i would never use one of these because you still dont get cured weed and the heat seems like it would be an issue with thc breakdown

7. i water cured mine in a small bathroom that i left cracked open. i could smell 'something' when i walked in. kind of piney. i dunno. it was def a different smell. could easily be covered up with one of those disposable air freshener things you plug in. i also air dried/cured a few ounces on my dining room table. it smelled a lot more obv.

its ok hip hop....why don't you give it a try and see if its a waste?...you'll like it... but like i said before if you are growing weed to sell then its not for you...vh i answered ecery one of your questions on hg420 one by one. i just can't post as much as i want to here on rollitup cos the pages take forever to load on my old puter and being on a phone line doesn't help...i'll answer all question it'll just be kinda slow.

weediscool your right...i have smoked joints of the water cured bud in the middle of crowds at mardi gras with no detection of it being "mj" while it does have an odd smell its definitely not identifiable as mj.

I am trying a water cure now. Day 1 today. I hope what I am doing will turn into a good tip. I put all of the bud into mesh bags sold for washing delicate clothes in the washing machine. Makes holding it all down really simple. I just found four large rocks and laid them on top.

I have attached a pic of them submerged. There are a total of 4 of these bags stacked in the cooler.

Make sure you flip the bags over and maybe mix up the green in each bag a little every day when you change the water.

Well, what I didn't realize when deciding to to use the washing machine bags for a water cure is the fragile nature of the buds after they're soaked for several days. The abrasiveness of the bag was not good. I was gentle, but there is some unavoidable rubbing as I pulled the bags out of the water every day to change it. This resulted in some of the smaller stems coming out of the bags completely stripped after the 7th day. Not good. There were chunks of bud still in the bag and I recovered a lot, but I know a lot just broke up into bits and was dumped with the water.

After pulling it all out, I would describe what I got as "marijuana paste". I was not happy and was going to report back here that it was my first and last water cure. However... after several days have passed, it has grown on me. I have a full jar of "marijuana jerky" ad it is what I have reached for every time I want a smoke. It grinds up and smokes well and is quite potent. It took about 5-6 hours in the dehydrator set on low (95 degrees F). I have one more large plant to harvest in a few weeks and I think I will do at least half as a water cure.

My plan this time is to use the plastic trays from the dehydrator. I will lay them out on the trays and simply lift in and out of the cooler for water changes. This should have a lot less abrasion compared to the bags. Then, virtually no handling will be needed to put them in the dehydrator since they're already on the tray.

man i dunno it sounds like you just overcomplicated things. just put some buds in a large tupperware. put a plate on top of the weed to prevent it from rising to the surface. when you drain the water, just tip over the tupperware while holding the plate on top. when you dry just take them out of the water and let them sit in a dry/cool place for 12 hours.

i water cure and it makes the bud much lighter after you are done because it takes all of the impurities in the plant. I have also found that it dosent really matter if you stop nuting in the last 2 weeks if you water cure because the buds are already going to have most of the flavor and smell removed from it anyways. it takes out the clorophill that gives it nasty taste and the fertalizers that may be remaining in the bud.
