Water Curing Anyone?

I've heard of people putting flowers in a jar of water directly after they chop it off the plant. Wait one day and then remove the flowers and let them dry. I heard that the flowers dry much faster with a better flavor. Has anyone tried this method?

Having trouble visualizing what you mean with regards to curing herb?

Are you asking what would happen if you cut your buds off at the large stems, then dropping the stems all in a vase of water?

Proper water curing takes longer than a day. You take fresh cut buds and place them in a container and fill it with lukewarm water. Room temp water is ideal. Ideally, I use half gallon mason jars for the process, or one gallon Rubbermaid pitchers. Everyday, change the water. The first couple of days, the water will be dark, this is crap you don't want in your smoke, nutrients, starches and sugars being dissolved by the water. By the last water change, the water should be mostly clear. You do this for seven days.

When you have finished, you place the buds out to dry, preferably a dry net with tiers, use towels between tiers to catch drops of water the first few hours, and then remove them so they don't contribute to humidity. The bud will dry in 24 hours, ready to smoke and smooth. This process changes the appearance of the bud..... In the photo below, the dark bud was water cured and the lighter one was jar cured. Water curing makes the smoke more potent as well. WARNING, if you like terpinoids and pot aroma, do not use this method. It does drastically reduce aromas, which makes it a great technique before packaging and shipping.

How does it make it more potent? So if you were take the same bud and use both methods water would be more potent. Why was this never brought to my attention?

I have a harvest coming up shortly, I'll be trying this out on a few grams. Figure I'll get two similiar weight samples, one regular air-cure, the other water cure to see how it goes. Compare again in 3 weeks with weight, smell, taste and potency.

i water cured some moldy bud before using the method serapis describes. it took away weight, flavor, and smell. it added potency and was easy to smoke, wasn't harsh at all. i perfer the air curing but it worked great for the mold problem. there's some good threads on it. i'll try to find you a link.

can someone explain how it removes smell and taste, and somehow adds more thc content

You are new here aren't you? I suggest you talk less and read more, if you want to learn something. Calling BS on a piece of advice given by someone whom has actually undergone the process is BS in and of itself.

You will lose some weight. My 10 ounces became a little under 6. The water dissolves all the BS. You will lose weight. It stands to reason that if you aren't losing THC in the process, the ratio of THC per gram of bud is going to increase. You still end up with the exact same amount of THC you entered with, you are just compacting it into smaller buds, if that makes sense. The terpinoids are somewhat water soluble. The water will extract the oils and you will pour them down the drain. They are responsible for giving the bud it's aroma and flavor.

aww ok, so all the shit that would affect taste and smell gets removed down into the water, so weight is lost, btu thc stays the same so budweight:thc ratio changes interesting tho i dunno, taste and smell are part of the experience too, guess when my first crops ready ill have to do a bit of both ty for the info

it's true. I have only used it for trim and that generally goes in edibles. and yes the ratio of THC to plant material increases.

Ive done the water cure method twice.7 days in water , change water every day. My buds were in coolers so i used the siphon method to drain and fill so not to disturb the buds too much .End product wasn't great on bag appeal or smell, but a really smooth smoke with a punch, nice white ash
