you should see how simple a bubble (or aeroponic) cloner is. I haven't actually lost a clone in either of the DIY bubble cloners I have made, and the price to build each was under $25. I was lucky to keep a clone alive when I've tried it in soil/peat/rockwool.

I tried to use peat pellets too but they didn't root, so i cut them again placed them in water and they rooted in 7 days. The way i see it is keep it simple if you can.

this is how my mom clones the willow tree. the benefit to root cubes and hormones is the quickness.
