Water Before Lights Out Or Water When Lights Come On?

Hey Yall'
I have been researching different forums to find the answer to the title question. I would like to know if it is better to water my girls while the lights are on or is it better to water before the lights go out? Seems like I have read somewhere that it is not good to water before the lights go out but I can't remember or find The Logical reason why that is. With my way of thinking, we are growing a weed, that started growing in the wild and we can't control when it rains in the wild, seems to me like it would not matter if we water just before the lights go out or we water when or while the lights are on.
Thanks in advance. If anyone knows where I can find a good read on this subject, I'd greatly appreciate it. Documented proof plz.

Yes but outdoor and indoor is different. The truth is it probably doesnt matter much.. the reality is if your setup is good it wont matter but for many it does matter.. at light off is usually when you get a humidity spike from lower temp.. watering just before light out can just increase that problem.. also your plant doesnt do much during light off so why would you want to feed her then? Might as well water when light turn on so she can use the water/nutes while lights are on.. that would be my best bet as to why

The reason I'm curious is when I woke up this morning, around 5am, 3 of my girls were so thirsty they were on the verge of wilting. So thirsty, that their limbs were super bent. So the lights go off at 8am so I watered um. Hopefully there will not be any negative effects from watering and then lights out. Before I went to bed last night they were or seemed to be bright eyed and bushy tailed. I'll have to watch them more closer from here on out.

Not sure if you are aware so I will say it.

First of all for all I know you may have identified the problem correctly as far as your wilting plants.


But
Some of my plants are super perky during the day but relax in the dark.

Some of them begin to rest a little while before the light goes off
So you could very well walk in during the end of lights on to saggy plants.

I have noticed that in past time but with further investigation of the girls, I would lift the smart pots and they didn't seem to need watering, so I didn't water but this morning was different. When I lifted the pot it was super light in weight so I watered. I just hope I don't experience and negative effects from watering just before lights out.

No you will be fine or should be fine just try to think in advance next time and increase your watering schedule if you see they dry out faster.. they will intake more water as they get bigger.. could be your soil mix which doesnt hold enough moisture (maybe mix more perlite next time) but dont worry too much about it its just weed it will grow

The girls like dry and wet cycle so its benefical to let them dry between watering obviously you dont want to go ham on drying to the point where they die of it.. but they will handle it very well.. you didnt provide lots of detail but are you in veg? Flower? How many weeks in flower? Either way im pretty sure youre fine its not a bit of dryness once in your grow that should affect your final yield

Reason I didn't provide much detail is because from my question, there wasn't much detail needed but since you ask. I'm in week 1 of flowering, vegged for 3 months, 3 OG Kush, 2 GG#4, 1 PineApple Chunk and 2 AK-48, in 5 gallon smart pots, 4x4 tent, Nextlight Mega lighting, NukeHeads bloom Flower Power Package nutes. I'm trying to upload pics but having trouble doing so.

That sucks.. always been curious to see the next light in action.. dont you think 7 girls vegged for 3 months too much for your space? Im just curious had 7 too in my 4x4 and vegged for 2 months (from seed) and its pretty full in there - im one more months and I would have ended up with way too big plant to my liking.. im also using 5gal smart pot and feel like as Im close to harvest that the roots have pretty much filled the bag so vegging longer I would have probably taken bigger pot.. how does it feel on your end?

Try lowering the resolution of your phone or whatever it is you take your pics with or like me take hi-rez pics then crop and resize on the computer before uploading.

I can figure it out and I'm an old fart!

If using your phone turn off the location feature before snapping pics so you don't send your physical location along with them.

Oh yeah.

Water when they need it regardless of time of day.

Plants don't just sleep in the dark either. They are busy building stuff to use in the morning when their sun comes up.

I go down there about 20min before the light comes on and light up my alcohol lamps to get the CO2 up nice and high so they can get going really good when the 1000W sparks up. Takes about an hour before the room gets warm enough to start cycling the exhaust fan on and off to keep fresh air coming in to replenish the CO2 a room full of plants needs to grow it's best. Just a good shot of it in the morning gets their day off to a good start. Like 5 cups of coffee does for me!

Water when they are thirsty. No matter the time of day.

Doesn't matter, water when needed. Rain doesn't just fall at certain times at the end of the day, it rains whenever

True, but the whole point of growing indoors is to take all of the unknowns out of the equation, and provide the best conditions possible. When we can ensure the plant is receiving the best conditions possible, we can get away with techniques like lollipopping. The plant doesn't need those extra leaves when it has a guaranteed nutrient and water source. A lot of what cannabis has developed as survival tools, is useless with indoor growing. I try to water the same amount and regularly, not 3 days, then every 4, then 2.5. As long as the humidity can be kept in check, I don't feel it matters when you water. Also, If you water first thing in the morning, or lights on, in 12 hours it's just going to be dark again. So, humidity is always going to be higher the first couple of days after a water, can't escape that.

You should figure out how to get pics under 10MB. I'd like to see those 3 month plants! Must be huge.

I see your plant in the middle has leaves curling down.. could be a potential nitrogen toxicity.. id watch out for that they should recover what nutrients are you using?
