Wat is autoflowering

So as read more I'm finding out all this new shit that I could of done with knowing before, so can some tell me briefly wat an auto flowering seed/plant is..??

It's a plant that flowers by age instead of light photo cycle

Plant it, sprout it and leave it under the lights 24 hours a day and they will still flower. Try Dinafem White Widow Auto. Mine is in a 5 gallon DWC and is 42" high today and flowering nicely! They supposedly go from seed-to-weed in 55 days - 80 days.

Don't know. These autos are my first ones. But the smells from the Vertigo (Paradise farms) and this White Widow Auto (Dinafem) are heavenly! Another RIU poster told me his Vertigo was excellent so we will see. Vertigo claims to be 55 days from seed-to-weed. WWA is 80.

They're basically photo period plants, crossed with Ruderalis, it does apparently lower the potency but I didn't notice it really, not on any of the auto buds that I smoked with friends.

Most auto strains i have grown are more potent if not as potent as photo. Biggest problem that ive found about different seed companies and strains being sold now is the inconsistent genetics. All of the photo-period plants you buy will grow at the near same rate, with autos you can have 3 out of 10 of your plants being runts and when it comes to bud time they are barely getting any light under the canopy of the other plants. Personal opinion though.

One thing I didn't see mentioned is autos are very easy to grow. Autos are incredibly forgiving and can handle heat and cold better than regular varieties.

If you grow an auto in soil, do not fertilize it for the first 2-4 (?) weeks. (I'm not sure, I mostly grow in coco)
If you go coco or hydro it takes regular fert.

Autos are not going to be as strong as regular plants.
That is if all things are equal.

If you grew an auto and the variety it came from and did not screw either up, the regular will be more potent.
All of the autos I have seen have the same shaped leaf edges.

Autos do have a different cannabinoid profile than regular plants which is great at first.
Once I got used to them I started ignoring my auto jars in favor of regular weed.

I really like autos, I made a seed crop of them. They will have their place, I'll grow them in my shed (it gets too hot in there for regular plants) and a couple in pots outside.

I have yet to find or smoke an auto that comes close to the potency of any good photoperiod plant I have experience with. Not sure what photo's you are growing, but I'm not going to let you convince this guy that auto flowering plants match photo period plants in potency.

I've done some great autos, Mi 5, Russian Rocket Fuel, just to name a couple. Sure, some are really potent, but the even the most potent auto will not even be in the same ball park as a good photo plant. But, I guess you have a limited history with good genetics, so maybe it's not your fault.

Most likely to my thinking because every generation is a new set of parents... so you can't find the perfect pairing of plants

So just get more lights around the plant, right?

isnt the "high" different from indica and sativas? i dont live in a state where we can get our hands on all sorts of different buds so maybe i dont have enough "smoking exp" but i got super stoned off autos when i grew them. a "different" stoned. imo autos are for novelty and personal use. i still have maybe 15 seeds i made...been thinkin more and more of startin an op with em and making a breeding journal. but like downtg said i had no consistency of growth. i had 1 plant in a gallon container grow bigger than 1 plant in a 4 gallon container.
