Was this a stupid decision on my part?

So I thought this one up last night while I was at work. Everybody's been going to this holiday meeting we're supposed to have this past week, my meeting was scheduled for today at 9am. Everybody else but me and this other guy, whose cool, I've smoked with him and we've hung out before, had the meeting in groups of 4. Since we were the last two, they grouped us together just the two of us. So basically I skipped the meeting and told him to just mention that if anyone asks to cover for me and say he saw me there.

There's no sign in sheet, no clock in card or anything like that. Basically no way of confirming if I was there or not one way or the other. And it should be packed with a ton of people, and they've been having meetings like this all week, so I'm pretty sure nobody would really remember my face even if they did see me.

So you think I'm in the clear on this one? lol

Why risk your job over not going to a meeting? Nevermind, I'm leaving this post and not coming back so don't bother answering..... (shakes his head)

they are not gonna fire you for missing some bullshit training meeting, at least i wouldnt think so. you might want to make sure you are familiar with whatever they went over in the meeting. this could save you and more importantly save you from looking like an idiot when you are not familiar with what went on.

If I would be fired for not going I'd of gone for sure!

Slap on the wrist if they find out is all I'm thinking would happen.

And goddddddaaaaaamn!! That last meeting was so fucking redundant and boring! It's well worth the risk to me.

looks like you should be fine. i wouldnt sweat it, even if someone did find out, i dont think anyone would care for more than 30 seconds and you could just make some shit up like you had an emergency you had to leave work for. In my experience, as long as you do your job well, no one cares about shit like this.

Just when I get put on the spot it's hard to lie.

You guys ever lie about something to an employer?
of course. what did you say when they asked you in the interview why you wanted to work there? did you say "uh because i need the money"? no you made up some shit about how you can be a great asset to the organization and you are looking forward to making a contribution and blah blah blah. i think that if everyone told the truth at work, no one would get along.

If you plan on getting ahead in your job, I'd go. Bullshit or not. If you don't really care about the job, then why not?
