A dome, some jiffy 7s, Stimroot #2, and a pack of razor blades. Maybe $25.

25$ yeah.. But ya could spend 5$ more n get a Dewey mister.

Its faster
No cloning gel needed ever again
No jiffy pellets needed ever again
Those black trays crack in the corners eventually and that dome will be hard to see through in 2 years.

* 7 inch clear plastic dome $10
* seedling heating mat, should be about the same size as the bottom of the dome. $20
* X-acto knife w/blades set, (straight razor even better) $10
* qt. of rubbing alcohol, $2
* 4-oz. jar of cloning gel, I use "Root-Tech". $25
* stack of small Styrofoam cups, $2.

That's about all the hardware you need to set up a cloning operation. If just starting I would get 2 domes and mats. Gives you more options as you experiment and learn.

Good luck, BigSteve.

My problem with the Clone King has been water temperature. It's easily above 80 degrees all the time. The room temperature is getting up to 83 degrees which doesn't help either. Water should adjust to ambient room temperature. Then once you add the pump it just adds to it. I think bacteria is growing as my PH is spiking within 24 hours of dropping it down to ph 6.0. It also has that sweet funky smell and brownish tint to the reservoir.

I just added some z7. Hopefully, that will keep control bacteria growth.

I bought a dewey mister in case it doesn't work and I need to drop the res temperature further. We'll see....

I bought 3 of those a while ago for an aero setup. They sucked in my opinion. 2 of them bubbled and the other was a dribble. That was just my experience though. Perhaps they made yours right.

I'm whipping up a new aero cloner this weekend. I opted for the outdoor cooling misters.
