Marijuana Policy Project Alert
March 29, 2007
Congressman Bob Barr joins with MPP Dear Moon Shadow:

I'm pleased to announce that former Congressman Bob Barr (R-Ga.) has agreed to work with the Marijuana Policy Project to lobby for MPP's legislative agenda on Capitol Hill.

You may recall that Mr. Barr was among the top three leading prohibitionists in the U.S. House of Representatives when he served from 1995 to 2003.

News of MPP's partnership with Mr. Barr is spreading like wildfire. Here is an excerpt from an article in Roll Call, a Capitol Hill newspaper:
"You reach the point where you realize the federal government has become so big and so intrusive that it really forces you to take a look at a range of issues in a new light," Barr said in an interview.
As of this month, Barr has signed a contract to lobby for the Marijuana Policy Project. That's the same group that once sued the government over the "Barr Amendment," a law that forbids D.C. residents from legalizing pot for medicinal purposes. Now, Barr said, he may be working to overturn it.

Mr. Barr will also be lobbying on MPP’s behalf in support of the Hinchey-Rohrabacher amendment, which will be coming up for a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives again this summer. And, just as excitingly, he'll also be lobbying with us to de-fund the White House drug czar’s anti-marijuana advertising campaign.

Please make a donation today to bolster MPP's latest effort to take our lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill to the next level. Thank you ...

Sincerely,
