Wait, What? A Mushroom Growing in my Soil?

Hello organic peoples, may I have your ear for a moment.

I found a brown mushroom growing in my organic soil.

It's in only one pot (grow bag) but it surprised me.

Anyone have any ideas about why this could be?

I use very simple organics, my soil is composed of organic compost, worm castings, perlite and vermiculite and I add Lime pre planting.

This is re-used soil which I amend with Chicken pellets and leave to sit for a couple months before re-use.

I only had mushrooms from mg soil. 15 years ago. Its not a bad thing. They release a little co2 also. I've had random grass growing in my pots. One blade grew long and started to look like wheat.

Thanks for the responses guys good to know this isn't anything too crazy.

It happens to me all the time. They will not make you hallucinate. It's the fungus in our soils I guess
Yeah, I noticed my re-used amended soil was a little damper than it needed to be when I took it from my composting area and I also noted that I had used too much Chicken pellets when amending and some had clumped together, thus not fully broken down and absorbed by the soil.

I think this excess coupled with the previously mentioned excess moisture may be contributory, if not key factors in this instance.

Looks like you had yourself some nice wheat grass there.
