Waaaay to many seed breeders for a newbie

Hello fellow RIU members. I am new to the seed scene and would really appreciate some veteran advice.

Ok so ive had nonstop suggestions for where to get the seeds, bu currently i have my eyes on a couple places, but right now thats not the question i need help with. I would really like to just ask, what are your favorite seed strains and from what breeders? Im looking more precisely for autoflowers for beginners and what breeder would have those? I appreciate all the advice and look forward to growing something other than bagseeds. :weed:

Sup. I wouldn't recommend autos for your first run. They can be lil tricky. But if u are dead set on autos make sure u read a bunch about growing them. Night Owl Seeds is a great auto breeder and def in the top of his field.
I think a better way to narrow down strains is figure out what you like. Indica or Sativa or Hybrid? Then with the knowledge of what you are growing for(yield, quality, extracts, personal or cash crop etc) you can narrow down strains. Finally from there you can find breeders that are working with those strains or similar. Stick to well known breeders and seedbanks that have been around for a while. There are tons that are reputable, well known, and have great customer service. If you need to, you can PM me and I will recommend one's that I have dealt with and have great success.

auto flowers "sound" easier to new people, that's why. I would recommend feminized seeds to start as well. As for which breeders, everyone has their favorites. Maybe tell us what kind of cannabis you like and if you've decided to go with a domestic seed seller or a European one? There are great breeders in both places.

Well I was thinking of feminized autos if anything.

This isnt my first first grow, but my main reason was because we have winter coming and running my light 21 hrs and using that for heat would be more efficient. I'm just looking for a reputable brand of seeds that would be easy to grow. Essentially something not super sensitive. If autos are too easy to fuck up, then what brand of feminized would you shoot for?

I'm not auto fan, it's an interior product. I'd recommend feminized seeds that are photo.

If in US I'd go with James bean, seed cellar, platinum seed bank.. look at the seed and strain reviews on this site and see what looks good to ya..

I can recommend BOG seeds. You can find his email address by searching threads. Good prices and genetics and he's a true OG kind-heart. Been around forever and a week.

The Sour BluTooth has been great, as well as Sour Boggle and Bogglegum. His strains can be quirky genetics but good.

I don't think he does feminized seeds but IMO, it's every growers "trial by fire" to learn how to actually look at the plants and figure out the sexes. ;-)



Beginner advice? Work on your environment most important and learn to think in time scale. (ie. "What happens to humidity and temperatures when the lights go off?") -- also, #1 - Keep things simple. Don't try to do everything at once. Just focus on light, temp, humidity, with basic soil+compost first.

If cold is a going to be a problem for you, I'd recommend running your lights at night. Also, maybe acquire a small digital heater.

Dcseedexchange and Great Lakes genetics are my two major goto places for seeds. If you want to try a member chucks here I would recommend esoseeds. He makes good fems and I have purchased through him no prob

but seriously try useful seeds. They are sold at both dc and glg and there is a huge thread here on his stuff. Check it out you won’t be disappointed.

I know you’re askin* about seeds but they’re the last piece of the puzzle.
What’s your grow environment look like.
Tent size ... grow style / medium ... pot size ... lighting ... nutrients
Your choices may affect what stains you want to start with.
Even with the best advice it can take multiple grows for you to dial in your growing “environment”.
Try to stick with seeds that have info about plant size, flower period, Indica/Sativa balance, and nutrient preferences
Is there a particular effect that you want? My first grow I was looking for something to help with back spasms.
Don’t start out with some elite strain that costs several hundred $$ a pack. You’ll get there eventually if that’s what you want, but learn on reputable strains that sell feminized photo seeds for under $100 for 5+ seeds.
Where possible I use US seed banks, but banks like Attitude in England are safe, reliable, and offer a huge variety of breeders.
One more thing ... only grow one strain at a time while you’re learning ... follow the KISS principle.

This is good advice, the cost of seeds is a major pet peev of mine, considering how many seeds a single plant can produce. Individual state legalization has dropped the average price of bud, but the price of seeds is just pure exploitation. Best to start with some inexpensive but decent seeds that won't break your heart if you follow some bad germination advice or kill them by overwatering!

Try some of the cat's on here in RIU community @shorelineOG @Useful Seeds @bigworm6969 @HydroRed are just a few that i can think off right off the top off my head that their gear isn't insanely priced.

Also i'm sure they will steer you in another direction if their gear dos not suit your needs and their are plenty more breeders that frequent this site. Try to PM a few and see what they got cracking ! Ps stay away from Auto's they are a waist of time. IMHO

I hate growing autos, one mistake early on can make your yield next to nothing. That being said I understand that maybe for environmental reasons you need the heat. So if I was gonna grow autos I'd buy the best and from what I hear it's mephisto genetics.

If anyway possible to heat the room the tent is in then I recommend fem seeds. There are so many breeders anymore that it's hard to keep track. If you want a good deal then useful seeds. If you are looking for the newest hype strains then cannarado, Clearwater, elev8 and sin city are a few I've recently ordered from.

I can tell you why!
Almost every “popular seed bank” advertises autos incorrectly! 8 week finish times, easy, fast and fun lol.
I think a lot of folks believe there’s more work growing photos because of the “flip to flower” aspect.
Combine all that with the cool YouTube kids craze with autos and wala...

I started with autos
Got a freebie photo
Didn’t know it was a photo
Now I got a photo

After I finish my last auto.. I don’t see a reason why I would want to grow anymore tbh.
Not bashing autos (I’ve grown some monsters)

I've wondered about the price of these seeds. I wonder how many seeds you get off a two meter tall plant. Should add up to a lot of money. But the really good breeders are investing time and money. They deserve to be rewarded. And I guess I don't have to buy them. I wonder if the big breeders, like maybe Dutch Passion, if they grow in the southern hemisphere as well as North (Netherlands). I really like finding a new to me seed breeder and just check them out. Like I'm doing now with Twenty20. I heard about them here. Bought a few seeds. This is a great time, and going to get better when.....never mind.
