w/sq. foot. Question

I've had 3 harvests under the same 1000w hood using eye hortilux bulbs in a 4/8 ft tent , but my last one only yielded about 13 ounces, which is extremely disappointing. Most of what I've read says that a 100w will generally cover a 4x4 area, as you want between 50-100 w/sq. Feet. But how does depth play a role in this? I would imagine because my hood the yield master 11-6" classic is angled that the further the distance from the hood the wider the area is that gets light, but the w/sq. foot.would go down. So really what I'm asking is with my hood in a 4 by 8 by 6 tent what would be the optimal distance to have the lights from my canopy, and does it vary throughout the veg and flower stage?

I had a really shitty run with 4 plants under a 600w in a 4x4 tent using H&G full line, it was shitty because I got pretty lazy with them in flower, didn't prune or train anything. Just let them do their thing and cut them down a week early. I still pulled 10 from them. My hydro store has a neat chart on their website that I follow and it hasn't given me any trouble. Give it a read through.

Wow that chart says 3-6 feet, ive been going like 2 max away from them, and it also says use a 6x6 for 1000w but thats only like 28 w/sq. foot.

6x6 is the secondary coverage. If the light isn't burning your plants you can move it closer. They are general estimates, if something works better for you go with that, but this will give you an idea.

I have 8 plants under 1000 hps in a 5x5x7 in 5 gal pots last grow got 25 oz with 4 plants this grow hope to hit 32 oz

4x4 600w 7 plants netted 17.65oz (dried and cured). OP when is the last time you changed out your bulbs? I change mine out after every 2 harvests (hps and mh).

I just changed my bulbs last grow. I'm still undecided on how many I'm gonna grow, debating mainly on 4 in 7 gals 6 in 5 gals or like 12 In 2 gals. What would be more ideal for just one hood in a 4x8 room with the light in the middle?
