yes it did and does, good luck to you as well. have a 6 footer with pink hairs like the one in ur avatar. Also why do you prefer a slow dry and roughly how long does it take until you start jarring after hanging whole? If you have low humidity and central ac unit?

Thanks King More weight & more wait. Hehe :) Thats tru. Weather history here on the Cali desert on avg. wont get to 34-32 degrees until middle of Nov. so as long as I wont start pickin' little buds off jonesing for some, I think she'll be ok!! :):):)

Peace Dude
Glad to hear it buddy! dont blame yourself for pickin samples though, iam sure most of us do it =D
Does anybody here have an opinion of whether or not to cut a plant at the base and hang whole or cut into branches. Or harvest individual floral clusters and leave the inner canopy buds to continue maturation?
personaly, i do the branch style. i find that its actually more important to get them out of the room and into jars asap instead of doubling the drying time, as iam quite meticulous about my flush so the extra time isnt as necessary as it is for some.

so if flushed, the hanging up whole is obsolete? my plants havent been fert in over 3 weeks lol, i should give them a small feed before harvest in 5-7 days. Do you think i should give a small feed then flush or just leave clean?

personally, and again this is all my 'limited opnion' and its only based off 1 and 9/10ths actual grows coupled with months of reading this site, so take anything i say with a grain of salt:

don't bother nuting again. not because it would make it taste bad (with 2 weeks of flush behind it already it probably wouldn't) and not that it wont add weight (though i doubt it would), but merely because any potential gain you get from it, which iam sure would be little to none, wouldn't be worth the cost of a single shot of nutes (imo).

Hanging plants whole is never obsolete, at least not to those who preach its benefits. but again, imo, i would say that its not necessary if you have a proper flush. remember that the #1 reason do the whole plant hung method is because it doubles the drying time if not more, helping improve flavor. but a plant that is brought to peak maturity, has healthy yellowing already occurring and at least 2 weeks of just water, IMO, doesn't need the extra time. Stretch it to 5 days of drying if you can (by tweaking temps and humidity) and branch style should be fine. again this inst to argue against those that claim that hanging the whole plant is 'the only way to go', just how i see and understand it.

i will be drying where there is a central a/c unit, so the humidity will be very low and the plant im chopping has healthy yellowing and is looking more ready every day, So im just gonna water, water , water and then chop and maybe hang whole because of the low humidity. I just want them to have a dank smell when done.

And was the 9/10's grow a victim to pests, pigs or pot thieves? and could i keep a wet towel hanging in the drying room to up the humidity?

wet towel hanging next to my bud seems like a bad idea - what is your humidity in the drying area?

good advice for low humidity, especially if you are drying in a room with ac since the humidity will be even lower.

Not trying to sound like an asshole but, why are so many guys
so concerned about it having a dank smell? I thought we smoked it for the affects and not cause it smelled dank. I've smoked some dank smelling stuff before and it wouldnt get a fly high. And I've smoked stuff that looked like schwag and didnt smell at all and got high as a Georgia Pine Kite! lol :) So to me smell is over rated!

i would personally say most of the time its probably just commercial.

in my case, i like to have the dank smelling buds because i like to show off to my friends that i can supply my own dank smell/taste/high at a fraction of what they spend per gram =D its more bragging rights than anything for me

That is good news bongsmilie:

i thought so too, and i dont have a humidifier in my house, so idk. But i think it is gonna be less than 40%.

Good idea?

Because the smell is part of the senses, and i do smoke it for the affects, but the affects seem to be greater when it smells dank. And why wouldnt you want your bud to have a nice smell, it is meant to.

Agreed, it also gives it more overall appeal.

not at all lol :-P , but really no its just nice to have a nice potent smelling bud. And they are supposed to smell good. its more of a mass appeal or marketing thing, but mostly it 's just that every connoisseur enjoys the smell of a skunky, spicy, citrusy, fruity smell or whatever smell that buds terpenes and genetic characteristics have determined for it to smell like what it's meant to. Have you ever smelled plants growing? Who wouldn't want to retain that smell from harvest to smoke? And the smell has alot to do with the taste. Which both smell and taste are a large part in the overall experience.

Dont get me wrong....I love the smell & taste characteristics of a good strain
and any "Good" one will have it if grown properly. But it sounds to me like your close to harvest and it doesnt smell dank now. Cause if it does, with proper flush, harvest, drying and curing it should retain it. I think too many of growers(especially us noobies) are looking for the perfect plant....smell, taste, yield, and high and not all of those will be achived unless you really know what your doing. Just depends on which ones are most important to you.

Not sure on what the "Good Idea?" quote of me was about so, you may need to clarify, but i was saying that the guy before me had good advice (about the damp towel).

ok, us noobies? In not really a noob. And both of my plants smell dank as fuck, both have their own individual fragrances, the pink indica has a hashy, berry smell(its has changed from earlier scents), the other smells like a sweet citrus haze. Both are over between 6-7', so im pretty sure ill accomplish a nice balance of all of those things you listed. potency, yield, smell, taste, high, visual appeal.

I said i wanted to use a small wet towel in my drying area which has central a/c and probably therefor low humidity. And he said dont do it.

Whoa....I wasnt implying that you were a noobie!!When I meant us....I was speaking for myself! And since your not new to this then you should know how to make sure you retain that dank smell right? Unless new conditions permit you to have to harvest this crop different then previous ones.

Sorry i realized my post to you sounded conceded, rude. That wasnt my intention, and yes i know to cure. But i think lack of humidity may be an issue in my future. Making the bud dry out too quick and not smelling dank. bongsmilie: Good growing.
