Virgin grower - week 2 - comments please!

I'm popping my grow cherry here as I haven't done this before. So it's been about 1 week and here is what I have so far. All but 1 seeds shot up and fell over so I placed straws around them to hold them up. I'm doing 24/0 lighting. Tomorrow I'm going to change the water and add some nutes for the first time. Today I moved the lights closer to the plants as I think it was too far away before. These are White Widow seeds btw. Oh, and I'm doing the DWC thing.

My shout out to those who read the forums is more of a question - can you comment on what I've got going on from either a good/bad perspective as I'm not too experienced here? The middle one looks good - the others I'm quite worried about.

Guess I ought to start a grow journal.

Peace,

Just moved the lights about 1 foot and some change away from the plants. They were probably twice that far away before. Got 3 x 150w HPS lights pointed at 'em.

yeah, that's seems to be on par with what I'm reading atm. since that's all i've got currently i guess i'll try and make it work. i do have a few more seeds which i'll start germing next week after finding some different lighting for them. i suppose i start searching these threads for people in the same situation. I inherited all this crap (err, growing equipment) so we will see how far it gets me. At least the lights I have will be useful once I reach the flowering stage.

4th week for nutes, thanks for the advice Hazy, I'd totally have goofed on that if you hadn't have mentioned it. Your avatar looks quite familiar - where have I seen that pic before?

Moving the light closer helped and they are looking a lot better. Will post a pic when I get home.

I am no pro, but i do suggest Flouresent light try T-5's for seedlings and re-pot them. My first indoor grow looked identical. I split rockwool cubes placed them around the stems up to the first leaves them buried deeper in your medium (hydroton?). They will live and be just fine. Also a light breeze over the plants will help make the stems stronger. Just remember light breeze. Good Luck

Also, back to the use of HPS and how they're only good for flowering.... they can be used for the whole grow, but they're not good for vegging because of the high percent red spectrum output.... You should throw a couple cool white fluorescents into your system, that will promote stem growth... otherwise your going to end up tying all your plants up from the time they're a foot tall onward.... Just a suggestion and the fluros are pretty cheap... Good Luck
