I ran out of PH balancer so I used vinegar instead (3 drops). Now, my plants are slowly turning brown. is it dead?

i used vinger on my first grow at 1tbs per gallon of water after the 4th week of veg. i was sure my plants were going to die as they were in very poor shape, but after getting the ph right they took off. i'll always use it. just my opinions though. as to using a good soil what if your waters ph is way high?

?? Wha . . ?
I have plenty of dolomite lime in my soil, but my water is @ 8.3 so even with "good soil" I still have to adjust PH.
And I have very successfully used vinegar as a "Down" adjuster - if you're harming your plants with it then you're doing something wrong.

Hello All-
I use vinegar during my veg stage of the plants life to ph my water down. My ph runs at 7.8ish out of the artesian well. I do adjust the water's ph to 6.2-6.5. Vinegar is cheaper then lemon juice concentrate, which I use during flowering. The lemon juice gives the buds a nice citrusy taste.
I do it this way because I read a post on this web site that a guy used vinegar during the whole grow, and half his buds tasted like "pickles". Unless you want to have your herb tasting like pickles i suggest that lemon juice is used during flowering.
Good Luck-

Hey all don't know were you live. But foxfarm oceanforest is meant to hold a ph of 6 always nomatter if you pour 7.5 ph water. The soil will lower it to 6.If you can't get this look and see if the soil holds ph usually the most expensive organic does.A metal rod ph meter does not work in water it will mess with a guys head.leave it out.Use good soil add nutes at 3 1/2 weeks at 1/2 strength. This should get you by just fine.

1 bottle of vinegar is a hell of alot cheaper than that soil.

This "vinegar kills" myth has been debunked numerous times - open your eyes & look at peoples results.
If you believe the magical Ocean forest soil cures all including high/low water ph you have bought into their marketing scheme. BTW I did some research into the foxfarm lineup & nowhere could I find anything to back up your statement that the soil itself corrects extremely unacceptable water ph.

Check this thread on the subj if you don't mind being proven incorrect.

not sure but perhaps if your water is 7-7.5 maybe you need less but mine is somewhere around 8.5 from the tap and 1 tbls per gallon is just rigt. i never check it any more just add my nutes and the vinegar and water the plants.
