Question!!!

If you receive healthcare from the VA, what is there stance on writing a prescription for medicinal marijuana? Do they supply it as well, like all other prescriptions? I have no idea how this shit works for our veterans (I am one too), or if the VA will provide me with a prescription. I have one of the serious illnesses treated by smoking, but its not LEGAL where I live. I am curious about what happens in one of the 14 states that I can move to and not live in constant pain by LEGALLY smoking marijuana.

I run a group for legalization here, and I for the life of me can't get a strait answer from anyone:wall:

I have civilian friends in Cali, so I kind of grasp the concept, but I was wondering for us vets.

Thanks a million, anything to help or point me in the right direction would be great!!:bigjoint:

Well to start, marijuana isn't "prescribed" per-se, even in the medical states. The doctor doesn't write you a prescription, he simply signs off to enable you to get a MMJ card. In order to get this card you usually fork over a couple hundred bucks (cash) along with having one of the conditions on a list created by the state. You then have to buy the marijuana yourself... insurance does not cover it. There are plenty of doctors you can go to in the medical states, but I highly doubt any of them are connected to VA.

I also use the VA for treatment and live in a MMJ state - BUT - the VA is a federal entity and will not endorse MJ for any reason is my understanding.
Sorry for the bad news.

Thanks but no worries, I can go elsewhere to another doc. My docs are cool with me, and will point me in the right direction. Thanks though!
