Veteran soil grower seeks help/advice in purchasing 1st hydro system for stealth.

Ive grown in soil for years but since im forced to go stealth i figure it would make my life easier if i go hydro.

I have ZERO experience/knowledge in growing hydro but ive recently be looking around and figure it would be easier for me to just get a simple hydro system on ebay but im not sure what i need and what is good/crap.

my space will be a small cabinet. its 38inches tall...27 1/2 inches wide and 19 inches deep. pretty small space.


I have yet to decide what type of lighting i will use (open to suggestions)

are either of these any good? im aware they are made by someone and being put up for sale but thats not an issue for me (that its not name brand, etc)...i could care less as its for personal use only (not bud for sale, etc)


anything i need to be aware of (thats different from growing in soil)?

i guess it would be wise on my part to say that im looking for a yield that will average out to about 2oz per month (even though i plan on starting and completing a grow all at once)

lighting suggestions for this set up and the size of my space would help me out a great deal too as ive only ever used a few 600s in a large 8ft by 10ft room (didnt use the whole room for grow space obviously) so idk how to scale it down to a cab my size.

so ~QP per grow. With a little trial and error, it shouldnt be hard to get that with a 250w HPS.

Just know with those DWC systems, you need to be able to control water temps, and a HPS is going to get hot in that little cabinet.

Read all the threads trichome fiend out up, atleast glance through them. I learned alot from AL B Fuct. Basically Dont buy that ebay tote with all the stuff with it. You can make your own, if you dont want to make your own. Buy just the pre-made tote. TO make your own you just need a drill, 2-3 inch circle drill bit into the tote you buy from home depot or walmart, 10 dollars. Make holes in it. My holes are 1.5 inch apart. Then your tote is done. Buy a quality air pump, I have several 70gph commercial air pump. Buy the net cups that fit your holes, hydroton to fill the net cup and grow cubes to start your plant in. Buy the cheap air stones you see on ebay. After every finish grow the air stones are near useless, there so clogged up. Then start growing. Look at my grow I got going to get an idea on how the set-up will look.

You could use a 600w, with a cool tube and in line. Led are starting to be a proven way to grow big bud. With led you wont have to worry about heat. Look into that also.
