So this is first grow..
Probly shouldnt of potted them in organic hotsoil right from the get go. The but of yellow probly from nutrient burn.

Now I didnt condition my soil with water before germinating seeds to help the soil drain like they recommend. I forgot.

So I wasn't sure they were getting enough water

So i soaked the soil and the growing medium..that's when the leaves turned brown.
Big mistake I know. So I didnt water for 4 days.
Used a toothpick to aerate the soil around the seedlings.
Soil dried out.
New growth seems fine

Waters a bit last night just on leaves and around stem a very little bit.

I didnt understand that roots hadn't developed really at all so I was trying to get the whole medium wet which is pointless when roots only go so far.

My humidty is only max 30% and hooking up a small humidifier I have doesnt really help much.

Their under a 600 watt mh dimmed to 400 at the moment. Lights about 3-4 feet away.

PH 6.66 ph after RO

Do you think they will bounce back?

That one little guy worries me..hes stunted and struggling looks like. 20190520_133757.jpg 20190520_133747.jpg 20190520_133736.jpg 20190520_133703.jpg

I'd say touch 'n go. Probably grow out of it eventually, but they'll likely be pretty stunted, and the twisting will take a while to subside. They might be looking good in a few weeks.

How big are these pots? You think it might be better putting them in smaller pots until a little larger?

Thanks for the reply.
The pots are smaller than a red solo cup.
Roughly 3.5"x 3.5"x 3.5"

No worries,

Ok...how hot is this mix exactly? Any bad smells, or does it smell pleasant / earthy?

What's in your mix?
If there's any homemade compost, how fresh is it?

Tbh, it might be worth adding more aeration to the mix, and using a slightly bigger pot. Probably what i'd consider myself. There's obviously lots of organic material which is great. But the organic material might be a little too green, contributing to a hot mix. Organic matter also has a high water holding capacity, so aeration / drainage could be an issue.

Given the size of your pots i'd consider re transplanting, seeing as you'd need to transfer again from those pots really soon anyway.
I do think it's probably an aeration or drainage issue, imo you should be able to sprout seeds in pots that size.

Edit: i'd try and get enough aeration / drainage in the mix so the pots are getting dry after 2 - 3 days.

Good luck man, and hope it helps!

It's a premade hotsoil I bought from a canadian company in a big bail Screenshot_20190520-143333_Chrome.jpg called

Maybe I could add some more perlite to help with drainage. And replant and actually condition the soil this time like they suggested before hand.

Just leave em alone. Stop getting the leaves wet. Let the pots dry some and when u finally do water just a little bit. Im sure the pots are plenty wet toward the bottom.

I would start seeds in a pot that was almost and just chill a couple weeks

Maybe worth a try imo. What did they suggest conditioning it with? I noticed it contains both gypsum and dolo lime, i wouldn't add any more myself. You can always top dress a little further down the road.

Good idea from eddie to try bottled water if using tap, states it on the product information too. In my experience it doesn't matter, but my water's pretty good so who am i to say.

They meant condition a certain amount of soil with a certain amount of water and mixing it to improve draining when potting.

I skipped that step tho. So once it got water it all packed down probly leaving no oxygen for roots.

I started off using bottle water..but Ph was 7-8.

Then I dropped 300 dollars on wicked 5 stage reverse osmosis system so I been using that.

Ph after going through reverse osmosis is 6.66

Thats like a million dollars in american money. Your soil will take care of you fancy water isnt necessary.
Not sure how water companies roll in the rest of the world but in Alberta we have high amounts of chloramine in the water ( doesnt evaporate) and fluoride.
I'm new to this and could be wrong but I'm not sure any plant is a fan of those and it would most likely kill the beneficial microorganism in my soil as well no?

I only planted one germed seedling in each pot.
Haven't had any weeds
Is it possible that be another pot plant sprouting up?
