It seems that a lot of people suggest having the cfls surrounding the plants instead of right above them. This makes sense after learning about how little they penetrate the foliage and whatnot. What I'm wondering though is if having a lot (8+) bulbs directly above a few plants would cause them to primarily grow upwards with very little outward growth? Can the positioning of the lights have an impact on this type of thing, or could it be something else? Understandably there are differences among the various strains as to how lanky or bushy they are, but something doesn't seem right. Any ideas?
