Sealing it up is key for keeping moisture form pooling in the center and causing root. And yes bugs! Thanks for sharing your experience in 15 years of growing I've never had one break like this
Maybe we are talking different cages the stems ofof plant where bigger around than tomato cages I would have to cut then off to not kill them before they finish. Maybe just some stakes and sting, I'm motivated now to figure something out. I agree and especially this candy kush about the more fragile stems.
I kid you not the stems of my plants last year were bigger around than those pots. But I agree I am going to figure out something to support them.
I had a friend who refused to do it and every year I would go over there to see his losses, im not harping on you.

I'm not new to growing but still have so much to learn, this was a hard lesson! I just know certain strains I grow will not fit in that exact setup for the whole season. Thanks for getting my gears turning and now Im thinking about how I can support them just in case! Then they will have a jump start when the bus get fas and heavy and I have to steak then!

No I have one of the plants 4 feet over my head but I got rid of them, I'm only even here now because this will soon be legal in my state. I only weigh what I trim up nice , many more oz went into bubble hash
Believe it or not this staking configuration is strong and simple too.
Not saying you are bragging but you did say you had trunks of plants that wouldn't even fit in a tomato cage. And you know what they say...If you don't have a picture then it didn't happen.
Not of last year but with legalization in my state I will this year, I'm growing in a spot my cows lived on for 10 years making compost, it's 15 feet deep of the best soil I've ever grown in
For potted plants they look like a nice size, do they have a bottom on the pot? I was thinking something like this or stakes with the mesh attached to it? Like a screen over them.
Yeah, those are just grow bags stuffed inside the other.
Oh, my yes. My cages last year were hog wire fence, custom made. 6'6" tall and ~4' diameter.
Ok and now I see those are not normal Tom cages in the first pic and my plants stalks where not that big. That is more like a fencing wrapped around a 45 gallon pot. I put my plants in some super deep compost and cover them till the weather gets warm with plant fabric. So I could still use the fencing around them in the ground and I love this idea best. Thank you I wasnt seeing the pic right till I looked closer
