Hi all. Old smoker, new grower, first-time poster. I built a DWC NGB-style cab several months ago from info on forums like this one. So thanks to all who contributed. And if you're reading this, you probably contributed.
Like most in cabs, my biggest concern has been heat buildup. I have a DIY cooltube that exhausts the veg compartment. Air is pulled from the bottom of the cab through an 8" darkroom louver. The cooltube exhaust is (over)powered by neg pressure from a squirrel cage fan (180 CFM) in the utility partition of the cab. As is, I can touch the tube without discomfort but the cab's temps have reached the low nineties on occasion.
My question is, finally, will drilling a hole directly between the veg chamber and utility area help vent some of that heat? That fan should be big enough to pull through the cooltube and straight from the cab also, right? Will that even make a difference since the cab's air is being pulled through the open end of the tube anyway? I just wanted to get some expert advice before I go drilling holes all willy-nilly like. Thanks!
