Ventilation question

Hey everyone, first time growing question,

First of all I have a 4'x4'x8 closet /w no vents or openings besides the door itself, 2 1'x1' planter-boxes, 1 400watt HPS, 1 small oscillating fan and hydrometer/thermometer. I am going to be using clones in there.

with a 400watt hps (in the mail) in that space, without great ventilation, would opening the door a few times a day work instead of a steady input output of air? the avarage ambient temp in the room is about 70-75 and stays at about 70% humidity w/o light.

thanks guys, sorry if its already been asked..

will it work, maybe prolly yes, will you have a happy plant, prolly not, the air in a given grow space at the least needs to be changed out every 5 or 6 miniutes, you have about 130 cubic feet of air so if you opened the door every five minuites you would be good, but that would be a pain, heh, plus i would do a dry run with that light in the closet with the door closed i bet you those temps climb high fast, you are going to need some type of ventillation, can you cut into the ceiling if so get a small fan to exhaust hot air

Thanks, that clears it up a bit,

I suppose I could cut into the ceiling, just would prefer not too, an A/C duct is right above the closet that runs into the bathroom on the other wall, ever dealt with something like that? i suppose ideally i could cut into it and pipe fresh air through the right and pump the exhaust into the bathroom on the left, then use the vent fan in the bathroon to vent it out of the house.. just worried about making a huge mess lol.

Check craigslist or ebay for a cheap inline or squirrel cage exhaust fan, ebay has 4 inch scrubber and fan combos for like less than 100 buks, that would be perfect for you and keep odors down,if you install a exhaust fan you will create negative pressure in the room, then you can just have passive intake from a hole or vent in the door to the room or wall
