Cheeese - I have just gone through the same thing as you.

I cured my ills by making a cool tube. All it took was some reflective ducting, an inline fan, a glass tube like ones that hold large candles in them and some foil tape to keep it together. (there are a few threads in here if you scout around a bit)

It works great. Temps are very low, its as if the light was not even on.

hehemann ,i went into a hobby lobby and found one of those tubes you are talking about for the candles 33/4" better size than the bake around, and it wasn't priced so i took the two stickers off the hurricane lamp glass priced at 4.00 no questions asked works great

I have a small grow area.. the bottom half of a normal sized wardrobe.. 600w hps give me major heat probs..:wall:

are you saying a cool tube is the end of my troubles?.. they are really that effective?

I am in a small closet too with a 600w HPS. I made a cool tube, total cost around $60 including ducting and fans. Heat is now a non issue in my grow room. If you have some spare cash give it a go. You could always return the stuff it it dosen't work for you.

yes! cooltubes work really well,
i have a 600w hps in a 2foot square by 3 foot high homemade box, before the cooltube the temps were around 116/120degrees!

i added a cooltube and pc fans and now it stays around 72/76 degrees no problems!

just a shame my ballast stopped working 3 days after fitting the cooltube:roll:

oh well, back to the 485w of cfl's
