Vent help with new grow room

Would you say they are effective at keeping out bugs and cold air if the fan is off? I'm currently looking for an option for my exhaust. I have a 6" duct out the wall and have to keep my fan on 24/7 just to keep stuff outside that's supposed to be outside.
With the fans shut off, it'll keep everything out as the little doors will remain closed. But if your fans are running low, it'd let in bugs. I'd get some screening for bugs and just cover the duct end and secure it with one of those duct clamps. I do that on my intake with MERV13 fabric to filter any dust/dirt from getting into the tent.

Just because I love everyone, I went out in the cold dark and took this picture:

You can see that the left hand side flap is open slightly as my fan is only running low (2 out of 10 is my default resting level). As the pressure from the fan increases, it pushes both sides open progressively more with more flow.

Hello, everyone! I'm looking for some help with setting up a 6x6 grow room in my garage. It's an isolated and drywalled space, and I plan to run an exhaust fan with a carbon filter and an intake fan. The challenge is that the garage doesn't have heating, and I'm concerned about cold air coming in through the vents when the fans are off. I'm seeking suggestions on how to have the vents open when the fans are on and closed when they're off.
What vents to the outside are you planning, both intake and and exhaust?

I'd try pulling from the ceiling as suggested and exhaust back into the garage, recirculating in a lung room is common.
Garages are typicaly not well sealed and people are often overly concerned about 'fresh' air.

Depending on climate, running sealed with co2 is likely the best option. How cold are your winters?

Btw, there have been good threads here on this exact topic, could be very informative.

I'm curious if you plan to grow one crop from seedling to mature plant in this 6x6 foot print? This area, depending on the height could easily be set up for a 30 day (strain dependent) perpetual grow.
Is the garage attached to your home? If so what is on the backside of the drywall? If it's a utilitarian room ie bathroom, closet, laundry room, you could easily run an intake vent (my exhaust was on 24/7) into the living space and cover it with a residential vent cover. No matter where you push or pull air from, use a filter for insects.
This will also help stabilize your temps.
Peace

That's a pretty dood idea but that screen won't screen out many of the bugs that will cause problems in a grow. I'd suggest that you add some cheap furnace filter material. That will effectively screen out any bugs that could come in and not restrict airflow.

What are going to do about humidity spikes when your fans are off?
Or smell? Is that not an issue?
