vegging with a lower powered light

I've noticed on several posts that when time to flower comes many people ad extra lights. In the interest of saving a little energy I was wondering if there would be any significant drawbacks to vegging under Lets say a 175 mh and than flowering with the 250 hps I have. I am limited on space so I plan to stay within the 3by3 area the 250 is rated for which means I only have to veg to about a foot.I want a perpetual grow so
I plan on staggering the plants a ,new clone every 4 weeks or so). I was also worried that the flowring plant wouldn't be done when the new vegging plant is ready to be put in and that perhaps a low power vegging light would help with the timing by not going too fast. Can you experienced guys tel me if this is going to work, pluses and drawbacks.

you choose when to flower a plant so when the plant that you are flowering is finished then put in the plant that is in veg

the lighting sounds good, depends on how many plants you want in tat lil space. but you can flower anytime you want to, jus depends on how tall you want your babes. the plants will grow 2 to 3 times as big as they are during flowering, so in a 3 ft tall box, i would start around 8 inches or so, giving space for the pot and the light. can also put a screen under the light n keep a fan blowing the heat off so you won have to worry so much

i think you plan sounds pretty good, you might even be able to get away with a smaller veg light. most peoples veg areas are about half the size of their flower areas, and you can sucessfully veg under less intense light than you need to flower. i have a perpetual grow where i flower for 9 weeks and harvest every 3 weeks under 230 watts of cfl. I veg under abou 100 watts of cfl and t5 lights. about being worried that the flowering plant wont be ready when the vegging plant is, just leave the flowering plant in untill its done, if the vegging plant is getting too big it can allways be trimmed or trained or the amount of light can be reduced to slow it down and controll its size

I will definately train. the perpetual growing thing is because i not only want to keep the strain alive but I will be working in such a small area. I'll need to harvest constantly to make it worth it at all. I now realize( thanks to you guys), that I won't have to worry about the vegging plant not being mature enough to flower, I don't know where I got that idea.

you should use 125w cfl for vegging gives out loads of light for your babies then put them under a 250w hid to flower

thank you, i"m learning at a pretty phenominal rate and I have to thank all of you, plus my plans become more decisive as well. I'm going to keep a mother under cfl's and I'll use that for clones wich I'll prettty much throw under the flowering light
righ after the roots take. A week or two ago I didn't even know that that was an option.
