Yeah what he said, but they'll work a hell of a lot better than 4100 K cool whites that's for sure. Your plants will probably be taller and be slower to branch out than with 6500 K.

don't worry about it, they'll grow fine, maybe not quite as fast but the difference is small... use them until you get your paycheck bro don't sweat it

I did this once with one plant and 4 others under 6400k, the one uses 2700k didnt look too happy but it started to turn heahtly looking after 2 weeks, but half the size, then when I put them in to flowering together, after 3 weeks still no sex shown, but other 4 were starting to flower all over the place, so I threw out the little one, works out well for me since I would have run out of space :)

yeah if you want to keep them short i'd get the 6500k's (creates lush foliage, helps the plant bush out) and get as much light as close to them as possible.... plants generally grow taller in lower light situations in order to break through the underbrush (evolutionary adaptation) to get access to direct sunlight...

so the plant basically perceives weak light as shaded sunlight and says "hey man, i need to like, get up there above that fuckin bushtree next to me so i can get that good good light shine on my leaves so you can blow trees"

that's why well set up grow ops plants are usually very short but wide and bushy in the veg stage. as an example i had to temporarily change my set up, and i went from roughly 150 watts of cfl's to 50 watts for about 3 days. i saw 3 inches growth in those 3 days, but it was ALL STEM.

I
f you can't find that in a store, make sure to do a little research on the light that you'd like to buy.
Generally any light that says "DayLight" is gonna have a higher Kelvin.
