hey chaps, im just rounding up some information for my build and was wondering if 20-25 plants which are in 5 gallon air pots being flowered in a 10 x 10 or 12 x 12 room will be ok to veg in a 6 x 6 room? if 20 plants aint a problem in a 6 x 6 then what would be the recommended veg light for that many plants and im thinking of vegging from 4 to 8 weeks. im trying to keep the cost down.

cheers guys

is the room going to be setup properly? your water day is going to have shit loads of humidity in 5 gallons with that many plants in a small area like that.. id personally cut it in half. but most important how are you lighting it?

lighting is 4kw in a sealed room using co2 and a dehumidifier aswell as plenty of fans ect. if i can get away with it id rather try and keep all 20 females and get as much yield as i possibly can, i will be spending alot of time looking after them and monitoring everything as well as digital controllers keeping everything dialed in.

Yea if you have everything you mentioned then I'd say it's defo doable.....but....you may encounter problems if you veg them to long.Anything over 4-5weeks will make the plants too big for the space you mentioned some training will defo b needed ....as for lighting.......your veg space will need at least 2 600s......flowering will require another 6 1000watts lights with decent shades to make it viable and worth your while....Good luck....

hi, sorry i forgot to mention i will be using scrog and topping fpr veg and early flower stage, i see your point with 1000k on a 6x6 is pushing it so if i used 1k per 3x3 that would be 8kw which i dont mind getting but boy will it be hard to control temps with all those lights lol

id personally run the 20 under 4 k it gives the plants more space to spread and breath you'll have happier plants..higher production levels per plant ...im a firm believer of 4 under a 1000w... so me personally id run 16 -5 gallons.

yeah agree that room will get stuffed with 20+ especially getting to the back and watering.. you'll regret stuffing it

thanks chaps, i wouldnt mind doing it this way but im abit worried i may to rubbish and find i could of got more if i just went with the 20 plants, but anyway what if i went with 8 plants 1kw per plant in a 10 x 10 or if i can push it in a 12 x 12, could i easily yield as much as 20 with just 8?

cheers

just think of it this way if your stuffing the room putting plants tightly together every leafe is creating a denser and denser canopy for light to penetrate.. top buds are fine but anything under the canopy has shit yield, doesn't spread or densen properly al because they are so tight .. giving them space allow light to penetrate better it gives the under arms room to stretch and spread

just a rule of thumb then whats the recommended spacing between pots? 1 every 4 feet apart gives me 9 plants or 3 feet apart gives me 16 plants

well everyones going to have a different opion on that but your running 5 gallons so i would have 1ft away from any walls.. grow container.. one foot space next container.. 1 foot space ... grow container.. etc.. max...

i have to ask do you have all the stuff for this setup or are you just diving in? cause I'm wondering if your understanding the costs to the room your wanting. i mean theres a really basic ghetto grow you can do cheap in a basement with the cement floors.. moist walls .. bugs etc.. or properly building a room you won't have issues with, along with all the lighting venting, ac unit, dehumidifier, timers, lights.. etc.. i mean your talking a lot of money and time going into this size of a proper setup.

I did 16 plants in just a bit larger space than you have. I vegged them too long and they got too big. It required two dehumidifiers to keep in check after they got big. That and 2 tons of A/C etc. 4 KW should be enough.
Good luck

Yea my exact thoughts....like I said earlier the more space the plant has to BREATHE the better yield and quality the plant will deliver......but.......like Phil says this size of grow will be VERY costly and imo only an experienced grower would be able to pull this off so I would think carefully before you dive in and spend a small fortune on the setup you describe...........here's my calculations of wot it would cost me ordering from different suppliers to find the cheapest good quality products..........lighting and shades'2 600+6 1000 watt digital ballast with adjustawing shades...£1400'English...filter and fans'(rihno)(rvk fans)4fans 1filter'£400 this is for 2separate rooms'rotating fans(oscillating)4 of £120' timers and breakers £400......so theirs £2320 quid and you haven't even bought a seed or pot yet it would easily be anouther £1000 quid for soil pots nutrients and so on ......some people think it's only a matter of putting a seed in some soil and off we go......but those same people are the ones who get a short sharp shock and inevitably fail due to lack of information and fund's.....I am in no way saying this will be you but hopefully some of the info on this thread will help you decide the best way forward for you and your space.....Good luck and keep us posted mate......

And that total didn't include any humidifiers or ac's that you will inevitably also need....£600....so call it around £4000 at least......

yeah and thats the bear min if you have to remodel some shit.. add electric your talking more and more time.. but greenhouse is also right about a experienced growing running a room that size. i mean its not a cake walk..it can be if you know what your doing but keep in mind if you get that deep in your first run you really need someone there to help you make sure you don't have any issues.. the last thing you want is any kind of issues if your trying to pull off that.. clearly its not for personal! :) so the last thing you want is a loss of any kind.
