Veg LED, should I add UVA?

I'm setting up a dedicated veg room.

I am debating between HLG 600 Bspec and Spectrum King Phoenix 340W Veg (does anyone else make a dedicated veg spectrum LED?)

Should I be adding UVA to a veg setup?

Interesting. I thank you for adding to my list, but I can't see these being a win for me. They are double and a bit more the cost of an equivalent HLG, and I doubt they are twice as bright or twice as efficient. This is why I feel sure that I will reject the Spectrum King also.

$549 for 340w for Spectrum King vs. $319 for HLG 300w Blue or $589 for HLG Blue 600

I appreciate knowing more about ChilLed because they do not do a good job of pointing out they have 2 spectrums on their website.

Ya for sure, get good quality UV t-5 bulbs, but don't skimp.. get good a brand like Arcadia for example (for reptiles).

Its proven that UVA/UVB helps encourage the production of flavonals, anti oxidants, and whatnot in plants.

If UV LEDs were a thing, people would be using them for there reptiles without them geting metabolic diseases and whatnot, trust me. HO t-5 are the best source, but the bulbs need to be replaced every so often.

You can get special little glow in the dark covered patch on a card deal, that shows if a bulb is still outputting the right amount of UV. You know if it lights up the patch the bulb is still good. If it doesn't anymore, time to replace the bulbs.

Spendy, but worth having the extra UV spectrum in veg IMO.

If you're happy with the feature set of the HLG, buy the HLG.

These products have very different feature sets, which is one reason why they have very different prices. One basic law of economics is that products that products have a higher price because they have a higher value in the marketplace.

Chilled doesn't have a lot of pretty on their website and I think that's a reflection of the who they see as their prospective buyers. They do provide the spectrum for the veg light and the flower light and, when you purchase a light, there's a drop down that allows you to select which spectrum you want.

When I bought my lights (I have an X2 veg and an X3 flower), the data sheets of third party tests for light output were a strong selling point. The fact that they offered the light in veg or fully cycle spectrum was pretty easy to spot.

HLG bspec runs 470nm leds ( blue ) for enhanced veg.
300L is another rig.

It's a good thing they finally took a members advice on 470nm and far red. They'll figure it out sooner or later. There's x3 necessary blues and x3 necessary reds. They know this because they made supplemental strips to somewhat mimic a proper spectrum when the differences were presented to them. But. .being caught up on efficiency numbers has them all complacent unfortunately.
